Any time after 2006. . .
Look up from that screen. Hands off the keyboard. AND the mouse. Now, see that white rectangular thing with the knob on it on the other side of your desk? Right--the door. Wasn't sure you remembered. Open it. walk out. It's fresh air and sunlight. You can FEEL things here. But you can't fly, so, in order to get any kind of distance, you'll have to move your legs really fast. Go ahead and try it. More. _____________________

Summer 2007: Don't be afraid to have fun...... and try actually talking to people for a change. That new Forum Hangout place, give it a try and give the people a chance.
Dec 2007: Well it took you long enough, but these Forum people really are a lot of fun, huh? Jan 2008: Slow down the emotions girl or you are gonna get hurt. May 2008: Told you so. Now, don't dwell on it, get out there and socialize and be with your friends. Jan 2009: Watch out for the whirlwind that tries to grab you here soon. Run very fast the other way. April 2009: Damn girl, don't you ever listen. Oh well, on to the next healing - but don't let this totally shut you off to people and close relationships. Maybe start concentrating on something new like more exploring and maybe learn a bit of building. P.S - Don't freak at the upcoming PM cuz it works out really nice. _____________________

2003 - ok, so you're hot stuff in that game you're fooling with, don't trust BS, DC is ok, but stupid, don't give them the file breaker, and FFS put yourself in the position of doing all the breaking and remaking... yes it's extra work, but you'll save a lot of heart arche... while you're at it, check out something called second life.... get as many account names as you can... you don't have to play... just get the accounts. oh yeah and that thing where the cop shows up at the school... get your name on the police report, and get a copy. and don't believe the ex.
2004 - didn't believe me until the cop showed up did ya? yeah well the other stuff is a bust now, but you still have a chance for the second life accounts... get em, then ignore them... seriously as many as you can, use other peoples info if you have to... and get as musch of that free land as you can look for places that have higher limits on land changes. take a semester off... and then focus on the core stuff for the next level. the grind will kill ya... and that OTHER hidden project you got going on? just work on the overseas part, you'll save yourself headaches. 2005 - ok hopefully by now you've started listening, get more accounts in that second life thing, scan for the names that are really fun... yes, I know, 10$ a pop, trust me, you'll clean up on this... take the time and learn the tools there if you haven't already, groups all thouse accounts together and get as much free land as you can... rent it out to other people and use the to practice on, plus make sure you log them on as often as you can and as many, you're already running the servers so use them, they sit idle most days anyway. and that casino craze kicking up? just make the machines, and get a percentage... oh and there's this NCI thing... let em use your land... they draw in lots of people, and the dwell is worth the hassle. 2006 - you didn't get sucked into that GOM or Ginko mess did you, look, get out of it right now... seriously, major dead end there. and don't expect much from the casino thing... damnit I told you to just sell the machines... look, bail out, NOW. 2007 - ok so the dwell well dried up, no worries. it was a nice residual, but don't sweat it, take a year off, relax, well at least focus on your classes k? and if we were even remotely lookig at sinking cash into those "inworld banks" stop it.. you're smarter than that. I know. 2008 - yeah I know, you feel let down, I didn't tell you about getting in on grandfathered private sims, and those new open spaces... just fuggedaboudit. beside you have plenty of nice free land now, so no worries... _____________________

1991 - Buy that bigger house while they're cheap. It'll mean struggling for a while, but you can manage it, no problem. That extra £3000 you commit to now will be worth £30,000 soon.
And *not* an endowment mortgage. Now you've got a bit of freedom, explore and experiment. Find things out about yourself while you're young enough to do something with the knowledge. 1992 - I know the Amiga 1200 is friendly and powerful, but it's just not going to stay the course. Get a PC. And a modem too. It'll be a pain in the ass, but you'll thank me in the long run. 1995 - You didn't listen back then to what I said about self-knowledge? S'okay, there's plenty of time. 2003 - Take a look at this Second Life thing. Go on, you'll never believe what it can do. Sign up as a life member, it isn't going to break the bank. 2005 - Things are bad, but you'll get through it. Stick with the counselling, be honest, and ease up on the drink. _____________________

2007 - Hey, how come I'm not here? Where am I?
2008 - Nuts, still not here? WTF? March 2009 - Oh, there you are. Listen up...don't take this crap too seriously. I mean it! May 2009 - Ya didn't listen, did ya? Idiot! You're gonna get CREAMED! Cool it! July 2009 - OK, I was wrong, what I told ya. It was worth it after all. _____________________

2006
When your husband joins Second Life, instead of saying, "second what?," go ahead and join too, instead of waiting for another year. That's why his weekly stipend is L$500 and yours is only L$300. 2007 Welcome to Second Life, Princess Ivory. I think I like the red hair (in fact, you like it so much that you keep it as your trademark look, and in 2009 will dye your RL hair to match!) Hey - relax. It's just a game. You are working way too hard on those projects, and taking it far too seriously. Lighten up and learn to play. Don't be so thrown by it. Yeah, I know it was a lot to get hit with all in the same day. Welcome to gender-bending in SL. That nice Victorian man with the lovely manners? He's a she. And your best friend, the beautiful faerie elf? She's a he. Deal with it. It's not that big a deal. It happens all the time in SL. It's just the first time you have encountered it. In the long run, your best friend will still be your best friend, several years later. 2008 Enough already. STOP buying so much land. Bad move. And you are paying way too much, trying to buy up an entire sim piecemeal. Those ad parcels are overpriced. Just watch. Changes are coming to ad farms. You would do better to knuckle down, come up with the cash, and buy your own sim from Linden Labs. And none of that Homestead sim crap. Buy a FULL sim. And hold onto it. Share it with your friends. You will be happier this way. late 2008 Leaving SL? Are you sure? Well, ok for now. But don't delete your avatar account. Just don't - she's part of you, and she will be waiting for you when you are ready to come back. 2009 Welcome back to Second Life, Princess Ivory. Things are nice in moderation. Your friends are glad to see more of you again. But I've noticed a growing trend to spend too much time in SL as the year progresses...! _____________________

Damn - that one hits a little too close to home. ![]() I found out the hard way that there's nothing virtual about SL romance. It seems so innocent at first, but it isn't. The brain and the heart think it's real and it quickly becomes that. Oh and one last word of caution: Watch out for Facebook. _____________________

Sorry to hear that. I only posted that as a warning to the many people who think what they are doing behind their spouses back won't affect them or their marriages. So far I have avoided that like the plague. Very few people will admit it, but we'll be seeing a lot of this popping up soon since the old question of "I wonder whatever happened to so-and-so?" now has an easy answer. We would have gotten there regardless, but virtual affairs certainly hastened the process. Thanks for the hug. All is well. ![]() _____________________

I learned about not leaving tracks on the Internet last century, when I got hauled into the CEO's office over a Usenet posting. Facebook is not the beginning nor the end of this.

March 2003 (I think): You're about to start a 3 year long nightmare of a relationship, but the lessons you learn from getting ripped off for several thousand dollars will be worth it when I give you the next message.

the only thing I would tell myself, is back in 03, find this game called second life, get in on the ground floor, don't doubt your ability and do everything you can, learn everything you can, and I will see you in 6 years.
I would not tell anything else, I would want it all to come as a surprise. ![]() (I of course would want some of the same things to happen, first and foremost meeting hubby) _____________________

It is not always a bad thing though People in those situations need to step back and look at their real lives and decide if it is something they want, or if it is something already dead THEN they can decide what they want to do with SL but yes, don't let the term virtual fool ya, it is real, very very real facebook, again not always a bad thing, it has reconnected me with a lot of long lost friends and family members _____________________
