LL presumably have had to register for VAT in each European country. It has probably been established that they are required to do this by law. In which case they have no option but to collect the tax. Apparently in RL there is something called "eBay". Anyone else heard of it LOL? They had an issue in UK where people buying goods from overseas above a threshold value were deemed to be liable for import duty (tax) and the Customs and Excise people got a bit hot on this.

From: Warda Kawabata Guess what? that phone/Internet bill of yours has VAT included in the total. You've been paying tax all this time and never knew it! guess what warda? maybe i do pay taxes with my phone/internet bill.but i never had to pay extra taxes for a SINGLE internet service on top of that.if LLhas to pay taxes for their service now(i dont believe that they have to do that),well then they just shall include that in their prices.so they would earn less money, but to put it on top is not legal.

How egalitarian of you to tell LL to earn less money! Why is it so hard to just take the tax at the till? It makes no difference! If LL does like Blizzard, you would end up paying the same amount anyway - the US price equivalent plus VAT, except it is wrapped up neatly in one tidy package. That you prefer to have the tax hidden in the cost is something you will have to get over - because now it's clear you are paying the VAT, and it's extremely clear how much. You don't have to play SL. It's a luxury. It's not an essential part of your Internet service. Why should you not pay the VAT, under the scheme as implemented? Go yell at your government.

Anyone wondering why LL moved their accounting department to the UK? Now you have your answer.

From: JessicaNichol Kappler Does buying a sim/land, developing it and adding value to the customers of the sim qualify as value added? Of course my friend would have to have this VAT business ID number right? Jessica, you get a VAT number if you register a business, not simply by "developing" SL, unfortunately. From: Daniel Regenbogen Where do you get this nonsense? As example in Germany you have to pay health insurance, it's in the range of 13-15 percent of your income. Get your facts straight... Daniel, better get your own facts straight. Yes, we pay for health insurance while we work. But if we lose our job or can't work anymore, it's the state that pays the health care bills for us because it's backed up by taxes. THAT's the difference.

Pardon, but I reacted to: "So the 100% tax funded healthcare that every EU country (except France) has is "nothing" then?" There is NO 100% tax funded healthcare in Germany.
