Hmm there's a lot of talk here regarding Integrity in the past tense. I have seen no indication that LL won't go forward with their proposed solution for id verification. Integrity are, as far as I'm aware, still their partner in this venture.
Maybe when the announcement was made regarding this feature being here by the middle of May, they meant May 2008.

From: Rocketman Raymaker Anyone know what the teen grid is like? What are land prices like? do they have land barons and land bots?
What about sex beds etc? i presume that sort of thing is banned but whats to stop someone from creating it anyway, or is everything just toned down a whole lot?
The teen grid is tiny (one very small continent), pretty much devoid of nice builds, and empty of people. I helped my friend's son set up his teen account about a month ago. We sat at his computer and jetted around the place (hey! no lag!) but didn't see one single solitary person. It was truly depressing and incredibly boring. If I was a teen I'd make an unverified alt and come to the adult grid any day. At least HERE you can see some cool stuff. I didn't look for sex beds or anything while we were there (the kid's 13; I didn't want to traumatize him.)

From: Tomas Gandini If I were a teen, why would I want to play a child Av?. I would venture a guess that very, very few teens that are on the main grid, if any, play a child Av.
It would be an adult Av all the way and not a short adult Av either. Yeah, every person I've met that was suspected (or confirmed) to be underage were 7ft. tall and looked like the Rock or Arnold...either dressed like a commando or tupac. Any idea that child avs are the ones to look at for underaged people is silly.

If the "self righteous, self appointed moral guardians of the world" were really wanting to keep teens from being exposed to adult material, perhaps they should be trying to shut down IRC and UseNet.
Teens that I know don't bother with the web adult sites. They tell me that it's easier and with less hassle (and the porn is better) to use IRC or UseNet.

I'm not a teen but thanks for the tip!

From: Amity Slade Of course, it's possible that you are not talking to kids, but actually talking to F.B.I. agents or German child-porn investigators. In that case, you may want to protect yourself, tell the person that you are going to file a report, and actually file the report. Otherwise, you might get on a suspect list and find your snail mail and e-mail soon filled with offers for child porn, with an agent somewhere just waiting for you to momentarily giving into curiosity so you can become another number on the convictions list. With internet offenses against minors being the most media-friendly endeavor of the F.B.I. at the moment, the act of being a nice guy can quickly lead to a lot of criminal trouble for you. Whether you have committed a crime or you are pure as the driven snow, enduring a criminal investigation is one of those things in life that qualifies as miserable. It's up to you to decide, but being the trusted confidante of minors on the main grid may not be worth the criminal investigation risks. I couldn't agree more. I have long made it a practice, before engaging in any kind roleplay that could even be construed as sexual in nature - TO ASK THE PERSON HOW OLD THEY ARE! Another consideration, before we totally go Chicken Little about how many minors are on the main grid: Some people who say they are minors are actually legal adults who want to get their kinks off roleplaying as [minors pretending to be adults].

One thing I've noticed: age and writing savvy has little to do with maturity and wisdom.

From: Kokoro Fasching It does seem rather odd that the minors are so attracted to you, and seem so honest in telling you they are minors, when they supposedly lied to get on the Adult grid in the first place. I am not saying that there are not minors on the adult grid, just that it seems odd how you manage to 'expose' a dozen of them in one week. Not odd. I don't know Arden, or what he/she looks like. But if you are a very safe looking avatar, and you are female (which I am), and welcoming and listening and all that good stuff, you'd be amazed the things you hear. And young people are very good at sussing out who is "safe" - i.e., nice, welcoming, all that . . . AND not likely to turn them in. coco

This is a clip from the SL History wiki glossary entry on abuse:
"Cases of abuse are reviewed by Linden Lab Customer Service. Any penalties are enacted by liaisons unless the resident may be banned, then the record of the accused may be anonymously brought before a randomly chosen panel of other residents who will give input on their fate."
Question: What's this "randomly chosen panel of other residents" about? Is that like a jury of our peers? Are they regular residents, or Lindens? Has anyone ever been chosen for one of these panels?

The only way to do it is to make voice a requirement for everyone. The minors will be flushed out instantly!
/me covers his head and runs... I hope you mean this as a joke, because it is nonsense... Do you really my daughters voice was so different from now when the time she was 17 (she is 18 now)? Morwen.

I got that. Twice actually. I got details of the incident but without resident or place names or anything to identify who or where. In both cases the accused was rediculously wrong and should have been perma-banned. In both cases, I was asking myself why they were bothering people with this since it was obvious someone created a throw-away acount because they knew they were going to be banned.

Being an e-mail pack rat and curious since you mentioned it, I went looking through old e-mails. I found one, but could have sworn it was twice. The one I found was from July 2005. I don't think they do this anymore.

Was probably easier when it was a lot smaller, though, and LL didn't receive 2000 AR's a day.

I can go home? I can take the week off? Oh...polish up my resume? Errr... thanks... I guess."

Shit, I remember Reagan getting elected, yo! Condor man... *shudders* Possibly the only worse movie would be the original Spider Man... with the poofy-permed Peter Parker and soup-strainer Spidey.
