There are currently 67,000+ online the last I tried to log on. However when I logged on, I got the message saying "Login Failed" and asked me to check the grid status page.

Has anyone else encountered this just recently?

I was logged in and buying an item, transaction failed, and it said I didn't have enough lindens when I had over 10K. I tried to relog to clear cache, and from then on couldn't log in.

Apparently logins are disabled, due to database errors.

Ahhhh, this is rather like the old days!

Some of the website pages are being redirected to the Status blog too. I expect they will blog about it in a couple of hours :)

Now I am getting the Logins disabled message, wish they'd have just put that on my first attempt, as for taking me to the grid status page, there was nothing on there about any problems, though there obviously is, grr makes me so mad sometimes. Just Sl being SL I guess

[3:20PM Pacific] We are currently experiencing a problem with the database that may result in difficulties logging in, rezzing objects, completing transactions, and searching. We are aware of this issue and our ops team are working to resolve it as swiftly as possible. In the mean time, please avoid making important transactions or rezzing no-copy objects. We have temporarily disabled logins while this issue is investigated.

Ok, I thought I it was just me. I logged on to the website and kept being directed to the grid status page. I hope they get this fixed real soon. Tier will be due and I'm sure it's problematic for those having to still deal with the OS situation.

I just got the message saying logins are disabled, then got the "Do you think Second Life is getting better or worse" survey question. I sometimes wonder about LL's timing.

Their email IM system is borked too. I just got one returned from them. The error is "too many connections". I'm used to that with my forum. This could even be DoS attack. You never know.

Logins are back but it may take more than one attempt.

what happened to the in world messages?
12-29-2008 15:55
SL has been very stable for months now, so it seems that the Lindens have forgotten what to do when things go wrong.
It used to be that we would get a blue box message telling us not to rez no copy items or spend money until further notice.
This was always a problem because the further notice rarely arrived, so it now seems that they dont bother with any warnings until you find out by crashing or relogging.

I went to the concierge page to ask if it would be an idea to put out a notice, and had the window rudely closed on me.
Just another example of Linden Lab" dont care you are only a customer" attitude.

OK, SL is the only game in town, it will not always be so.

That was possibly due to the problem interfering rather than the Linden closing it down. I had an IM email returned because of too many connections. If that system is on the same server as Help, then that's probably what happened.
