I just made a date with my new neighbor in a residential sim. He's a bot, and 20 of his relatives are visiting for the holidays.....right next door to the swanky new home I'm building on the beach. Delightful.

I have been informed by one of my 20 new neighbors on a quiet island.....that was not a bot......it was his alt. Right. In the middle of trying to inform me, as Fred the human alt.....the mechanics reverted back to bot talk. Hilarious.

I must start by saying I strongly suspect this was a leg-pull, but anyway...

We employ someone to work as a greeter, host and general promoter in one of our stores; she shows people where stuff is, answers questions about it, helps demonstrate the menus, encourages people to try stuff out (especially our naughty, rlv-enabled, Santa) and so on.

Anyway, a guy walked into the store the other day, she said hello to him, and he replied his Mistress doesn't allow him to speak to bots, so could she please prove she wasn't one. She cracked a couple of jokes about him and his Mistress, and this apparently got her through the Turing Test with flying colours (or, I suppose, would have done, were she a bot), so she was able to continue the conversation and sell him something.

In the event it wasn't a leg-pull, I have to wonder about his Mistress' rules. Unless, of course, she's met Phil's bots, I suppose.

Innula...the conversation was very much like the ones I had with Hal, the AI bot who is roaming about, and the owner of the bot today, said it was one of those. He said that it is basically an alt that can be put into that AI robot mode.

When you chat with those, you can tell, because their responses are immediate - automatic - they come right back to you, no hesitation. They generally do not stop, until you walk away and say bye.

The mistress of that guy you mentioned might be worried about any info he might give the bot while talking. The bots take the info you gave them, and add that to their data base. Something you say, with a name mentioned, might come out in their next conversation with the next person.

It's kind of fun. I get a kick out of talking to them. I wouldn't have minded Hal the bot moving next door at all. I suppose Fred is ok, as long as he doesn't bring all those relatives over with him for cocktails.
