Can anyone tell me if there is a maximum height at which I can put a skybox please?

Thank you

Technically, no, but stuff gets really squirrely the higher you go. People have reported problems building as low as 750m. It might be an interesting experiment, though. Maybe build it at ground level and start moving it up incrementally until it blows up.

How high do you want to go?

anything over 768 meters (or so) will not re-rezz after a sim re-start. it will be lost.

and there are script and general rezz problems higher than that also.

Hi Keff!

I don't think there's an actual limit, per se, but I believe that physics and prim-links start to get strange above 750 meters or so... someone correct me if I'm wrong?

I know of some at 1000 metres, but things can get rather unstable above 700 metres. I believe the new physics engine is expected to improve this - but that's still in beta.

That's not true. I have a box at 1000m and it's gone through restarts just fine.

768m is the limit where you can rez and position things normally. Above that, you can rez things but you can't move them or they'll go down to 768m.

duly noted. i had heard the un-re-rezz problems from another thread.

Thank you all.

Time for a little experimenting, I think

768 is the current practical limit, for things to work normally. When Havok 4 is rolled out, that will increase to 1024.

my main has a skybox whose floor is at 700 meters. the solar panels and radar tower on the roof go up another 40 meters at least. he's never had any problems.

there is a sculpty waterfall and pool in the house with dragonflies and parrots who free fly around. no problems with those either.

so you're safe at least up to that height, keff.

What everyone else has said.

However, I happened to zip around the Privateer Space sim yesterday night, an found content up to 2,000m or so. The region did not appear to be Havok 4 enabled.

Check out this thread High Altitude Rezzer

The Privateer Space sim is a fantastic place to visit, and all the stuff above 768m was a nice surprise.
