From: Dana Hickman That would be why i said "unless you go through the sourse and pick it apart to see what it does". Don't assume that everyone who tries this can even READ source or even knows who Day Oh is please. In every one of those cases, a "please be careful about installing something from any 3rd party" is most definately warranted. So why haven't you rushed to make these public service announcements when Barney or Nicholaz or Henri have posted about updates? They are identical in this regard. And, "but did ANYone even bat an eyelash" presumes that no one thought about this, while no such lack of consideration was in fact evident. Perhaps it would be useful to reserve the warnings for actual suspicious cases.

Please tell me where in my original "Not making any sort of insinuation about the OP, or the product, or libsl..." do you see me make any sort of referrence to "suspicious cases", or this being one. You don't.. You attack me like I just kicked your dog for no good reason. What's there is me making a comment about prevalent unsafe practices, WITH exceptions in this scenario. I find it rather childish that all that was conveniently ignored as an excuse to get huffy because the OP is a personal friend/coder/idol of yours. Seriously, nobody asked you to come to the rescue based on your misunderstood, prejudged reading of a simple observation.

It's a good warning regardless and IMO it wasn't directed at the OP, many of us may be tempted to download and install something like lis then realise too late it was form a disposable alt account rather than a forum regular who obviously has a name built up over the years to loose by engageing in password hacking.

Just to point out, it comes from libsl, of copybot fame, though I have no idea how they evolved after it all.
