Hi,
A couple of questions about avatars.
1. How small can an avatar be made to be? I have seen tinies, and little furries, but from the Edit Appearance settings, and setting everything to zero or almost zero, I cannot get anywhere near as small, so how is it done? Can you be as small as a mouse? A fly on the wall?
2. I have learnt that skins are really just three textures applied to an avatar's shape. If those textures contained any alpha channel would parts of the avatar then be transparent? How could I create a look like the large hole in the stomach as in the comedy movie 'Death Becomes Her'?
Thanks and Regards to all

Yeti Bing and Yoa Ogee sell absolutely miniscule avatars: little tiny spiders and the like that have a big arrow pointing down at them when they're typing. The avatar body is actually crunched up and hidden below ground for this.

I have a tiny av. It is a shape and skin that make me about 1m tall. If you look in my profile picks, you will see. There are some low cost tinies on SLX, try one. It is fun too cuz you totally go undetected. I love sneaking around and being naughty.

With just the appearance sliders, an avatar can be as short as a 3' 11" female.
Smaller avatars do one of two things:
Most, such as Tinies, use an animation overrider to scrunch the avatar up into about a 0.5 M diameter sphere, and then attach prim parts and continue to use the AO to make basic movements like walking and sitting seem normal.
Others, like that spider that was mentioned, push the avatar below ground. This has limited use, as you can't fly or go into a second floor or higher building without exposing that part of you. They may still scrunch you up and put the avatar inside an invisiprim to hide the body, but things hidden with invisiprims are glaringly obvious if in the same line of sight with any other alpha-textured surfaces.
For a "hole through the body" effect, you would need to use an invisiprim (which makes 32-bit textures and avatar skin vanish), with a prim part that would give you the edges and interior sides of the hole through the body.
Info on Invisiprims can be found by searching the Building Tips and Scripting Tips forums.
