Hi! This is my first post on the forum. My question is what is the best all-around male AO HUD? I've tried a few different freebies with varying degrees of quality/usefulness. I'm looking for a sort of "one-stop-shop" HUD that can control animations, gestures, walks, dancing, etc... that is easy to set up, customize, and use. (The fewer clicks to get my avatar moving, the better.)
Does such a thing exist? What would be the best value for the money, or do I need to shell out big bucks in order to get a nice one? (I don't mind paying for quality if I have t, just don't want ot be ripped off.)
Thanks in advance for the help, I've already gotten some great info on these forums.

Aw, no responses? I should add that I'm still a newbie, so if my question didn't make any sense, or if I posted it in the wrong forum, I apologize. Totally my fault, there. I did try to search the forum, first, but couldn't locate anything that answered my question.
I did think of another question, is there a couples animation hub anoone recommends where my partner (who is also my RL wife, how lucky am I) and I can walk around holding hands, dance together or cuddle?
Thanks, again!!!

i use the Abranimations AO. Very simple...just attach it and go. Has something like 70+ animations in it (or something like that)...walking, flying, running, swimming, etc....

You're apt to be much happier with your AO if you learn to customize it with animations you've chosen for yourself. This tutorial is a little bit old, but fundamentally sound: http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/07/day-307-animation-override-ao-tutorial.html

I had the Huddles recommended to me here when I asked about including dances in my AO setup. Apparently this one is the top of the line. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=66503There is also a basic version. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=67664

If you don't want to customize your own, then I'd suggest places like Cybernetic, Vista, ..ok my mind draws a blank here since I never actually bought a complete ao, but if you go to Animation Warehouse you will find a lot of ao merchants in one area, so plenty of complete ao's to look at.

I'm fairly new to SL myself but was referred to 'Vista Animations' for an AO - found one that I love - they have several different ones - you could look there - Hope you find what you are looking for!

I did try to search the forum, first, but couldn't locate anything that answered my question. Its really really about personal taste. You have to try them out and see what you think of the animations, and then go with one. If you want Neko, I can recommend 'Adi's freebie AO - its very good. For cost, "Life is Meow" is the best Neko AO out there, but its pricey. That said, the shop I bought Life is Meow at specializes in AOs of all sorts - so if I can find the place again, I'll post it. I don't know as much couples animations wise. I got me a 'sex hud' that also has some cuddles, but I haven't even bother to try out the solo animations in it yet. I got it on sale (builder was having an 80% off sale - how can you pass that up?), and have had too many things going on since.

Wow, lots of great suggestions. I've been to the Animation Warehouse. It seemed pretty overwhleming, but it looks like they have everything right there. Does anyone know if the warehouse charges the same amount as the main stores? (Does it work like an outlet shop in RL?)
I'll be looking into all of these suggestions, so thanks to all for the help.

I have never tried to have all animations in one HUD, for me I am a very avid dancer and so I like having a HUD that can move quickly through my many dances and be able to allow people to dance on my HUD with me. After much trial and error in my opinion Huddles EZ is the best dance HUD out there and simple to use. For an AO I use Abranimations, it is simple to use, comes with a lot and you can add more. I think you might find you can get better huds and AO's if you don't try to have an "all-in-one" type one. Also with the brand of dance ani's I use (sine wave, akeyo, henmations, and 3dx) I don't have to turn off my AO to use them. I have found some other brands don't work unless I turn my AO off - so something to keep in mind if you still want an all in one HUD depending on what type of dances you buy. You will get used to running many huds ... Lol.. Sometimes I have 4 at a time on... Radar, hug & kiss, dance, and AO...

That is a good thought. From what I've seen, so far, I'm leaning towards Huddles. I like that you can drop the animations right in without messing with notecards. Having more than one HUD would probably make it easier to locate different types of animations.

fletch..when i first started out i bought an expensive all singing all dancing male ao that was 1000-2000 bucks...good but some of the moves in it were kind of cranky..lately I have learnt to adapt a standard zhao male ao and inserted 5 male stands into it that i am happy with at 50-100 bucks each...inserting them into the ao is a bit tricky but the volunteers at help island public can show you...this way i can stand about in the manner I chose. When I can afford it, i'll do the runs, sitting etc.....but for now standing around on street corners looking perplexed does it for me. As the others said - Vista, Sine Wave and Abraminations have good individual and combined ones

The AO portion of Huddles is based on the Zhao II and requires all the same notecard setup as any other AO.

Who needs to take up so much of their monitor's real estate with a Huddles? Just get yourself a Zhao II... it's FREE... and load the animations that you want.

Huddles EZ Animator basic doesn't use note cards you just drop them right in, which is why I love it so.
Fletcher has any body told you the warnings about wearing HUD from ground after adding ani's...if not drop me a line in game and I will give you a note card... If i am not there send me an IM... I get offlines and will respond if able.

Hmmm, more confused than ever, now. I must have misread something somewhere. Ok, so if I need to learn to use notecards for AOs anyway, I might as well keep the free one and learn to edit the notecard. I am currently using Bright Boy AO. Should I be able to use an edited notecard with this? I don't really like the walk that comes with it.
I won't be in-world until later today (darn RL work). I haven't heard about any warnings for using AOs from the ground. But I will probably just wear mine from inventory. (I think this is what you mean.)

I like to "roll my own", however, selecting the right combinations of animations, as well as selecting the right animations to begin with, can be a bit of a black art. If you have your AO set up to cycle through a number of standing animations, you need to be sure each animation can transition from one to the other seamlessly, otherwise you're going to be bouncing all over the place every 10-15 seconds whenever one animation ends and the next begins. However, even something as simple as a walking animation can be tricky, as I found out recently. My walking animation works just fine in normal situations, but - as I found out via Emerald's animation listing, whenever I step up or down, like stepping up onto a sidewalk, for example, the default "duckwalk" animation gets superimposed, and I end up walking like a penguin on crack until I stop walking. I switched in a different walking animation, and the problem went away.
