Well hell!!

up until this havok 4 my ducks did fine on the prim swim water, now it seems the water thinks the ducks are ppl and it starts with the sound effects for splash, however it causes the sound to jitter and loop, and sounds awful, so... I either remove the prim swim water, remove the ducks, or rethink the design... for now I think remove the primswim water

has anyone else noticed stuff like this yet?

Maybe you could try changing the ducks to "phantom"?

I havent had time to fully play with the new physics yet. If its anything like the game editors I'm used to (half life 2, Unreal Tournament series, Crytek's CryEngine) it should be a HUGE improvement.

I'm sure we're gonna have some "growing pains".

Our hangglide banks amazingly, its faster, a little too much, but the big problem is that is doesn't glide down in a gentle descent, it drops like a stone and hovers about 5 meters above Linden Land :(

Are your ducks from Animania? If so, he released some upgrades today for all his swimming birds.

General recommendation for anyone with items acting funky in Havok4: check with the creator to see if there is an update available. Most everyone decent has been working fast and furious to get their stuff updated.

I did some checking on Livingtree for what was being troublesome...

1. Siggy Romulus's slide was not "launching" you at the end, and my own slides were not properly sliding. I was able to fix mine by turning the slide and its ball "phantom."

2. The Animania animals were okay, but clearly having issues. Updates have been release for much of their line today.

3. Snaptick Laxness's wonderful Snap Kayaks sit lower in the water

4. Siggy Romulus's "Swimmer" appears to be borked: the FreeBee Swim attachment is working a bit better than it, and about as it should.

5. Becca Hua's ChildMultiTool hugger was acting oddly, at least with the "kneelhug."

On the plus side...

The PrimSwim water was seemingly okay here, although we don't have any ducks in it.

My Flying Tako was working okay.

I've not found any other major issues in my neck of the woods.

oh yes they are, ty for the heads up I will pop over later and get the upgrades (I had a failed transaction from there today too, took my money but no duckling :(

larrie cats are gone for now, they were causing too many collusions and sim was getting laggy, a linden contacted me so I removed them, will try later when things settle out

I ended up disabling the splash and ripple effects in my PrimSwim pond, so my Animania ducks and fish would work in it without making the area deaf with white noise.

The Swimmer HUD is screwed up under Havok 4. You can't stay afloat. Heard there are other issues with Siggy's diving board. Hope he comes out with updates soon...

To be fair, I was never impressed with Havok 4 at all, Much prefer stuff that works through Havok 5 (and now 5.5 :D)!

A number of things are borked, you just have to bear it until LL finally get to the root cause of the problem (which to me is using outdated physics engines.) and fix it. My av uses a number of simple scripts that just don't work in Havok 4 for the time being.

Yes there are screw ups but I'm sure they will get fixed.

oh never thought of doing that, I just removed the prim swim water and put in basic phantom prims with animated water LOL

And FYI - Right after the Havok 4 upgrade, I had to reset all my Animania fish and ducks to make them behave normally. (Touch each one and issue the apropriate reset command.) But this may not have been explicitly an Havok 4 issue, as I had, on other occasions, also needed to reset the fish and/or ducks. I think it is more an issue of dealing with them on a non-Linden water plane.

*smiles* I love my Koi pond...

It was a mess yesterday at Animania. Vinnie was superfast with releasing updates, and right in the middle of the updating by many people, SL borked, and the updaters had to be closed since no animals came out of them. Costed me 2 ducks, whereas the Swans did fine. No Animania issue but those darn asset servers borked once more. The ducks will be redelivered, customer service at Animania never has been an issue.

From what I heard, with the latest updates the birds will all behave as they should again. Though I have no experience with prim water, mine swim in Linden ponds. Behaved utterly weird though :-) As soon as I have put my whole flock through the updaters I am pretty sure they are to be enjoyed once more. Ceera you did just reset them? No upgrades yet?

I have a friend with one of these slides, sorta built into a prim mountain so that it's like sliding through a cave. At the end of the slide, people use to pop off and drop into her pool, maybe 10-15m below and 2-3m out from the end of the slide.

Now, with H4, the end of the slide launches her maybe 50m out, into the next sim, straight into the side of a skyscraper. It's actually pretty funny to watch - just like Wyle E. Coyote in some scheme-gone-wrong slapping into the side of a cliff face then sliding down the side. She is less amused with it than I am but from my point of view, that's her problem.

In some ways, that's better than ours: when you get to the bottom of the slide... you stand up and don't keep moving at all. It was like reacking the end of a firecracker fuse an not gettin a pop.

Marcel, I just did the reset command. I haven't yet tried to catch all 5 Koi, all three ducks, and the one bat that I have, to take them to Animania for updates...

The bat is particularly tricky to catch...

I'll see what I can do on my lunch break today.

Has anyone noticed any jerkiness in AO walks after the upgrade?

It almost looks, for a couple of my walks, like the ratio of animation/actual speed has changed.

Also, I occasionally seem to "hang" a little, as if there were a small sim crossing in the middle of nowhere.

Reset AO, no change.

I updated my koi and my ducks. (Bat was already up to date). But I noticed now that on occasion, the ducks are swimming about 5 inches above the water surface! Not all the time, and it isn't terribly noticable unless you are near the water level. But I was kneling on the dock, chatting with someone as we watched the ducks, and had my camera at a low angle out over the pond. So I could easily see the ducks were swimming in the air...

This evening I'll check my walk AO's and my huggers. I have quite a range of them and have several avvies of various sizes to test with. I'll let ya know...

I tried using the command to turn off the ripple and splash effect but still hearing that spamming sound effect from the ducks :(

I actually removed the sound file from the water panes in the pond. That silenced it...

Checked several huggers. My Child Multi-tool's kneel-hug is totally screwed up. The bigger person kneels properly, and the kid-sized avatar swims in mid air, helplessly, instead of hugging.

no script errors when you removed the sound files?

I double-checked my solution to the prim-swim pond with Animania fish and ducks...

What I did was to eliminate ALL the scripts from the 4-pane prim-swim water. I removed the entire 'contents' of each prim. Then I added the primswim "Alpha Plate" just above that surface, which enables swimming but has no splash, ripple or sound effects.

ah ok cool (yeah I too like their water textures hehe)

thanks, I might try that, good to know there is a work around to use both the ducks and the primswim

(even though I gave away my swimmer LOL, still have not gone to get a new one, since someone mentioned it was borked a little I might wait)

I think you mentioned that, not sure
