Why does my inventory window appear open every time I log in? Is there a setting I have turned on/off by mistake? It is getting so annoying!!

There's an option to automatically open your inventory when you get given a new item. If someone gave you a notecard or something while you were logged out, that would do it.

I've been getting that too, I assumed it was a feature of the viewer I've been using (recently switched to Boy Lane's viewers). It's a useful feature to me, since I'm hopelessly old-school and teleport around all the time using landmarks in my inventory rather than a scripted solution.

Maybe it's something else. What viewer are you using?

Do you know where to find this option? I want to turn it off. Every time someone gives me something I lock up while my inventory opens and it's driving me crazy. I crash alot when trying to open a new inventory window.

Not sure - try checking "auto view NCs, textures and LMs" in Edit/Prefs/Popups. That might suppress the inventory loading on screen (which is the other way of telling you that you have been given something).

Look at the bottom of Popups in Preferences "automatically show newly accepted objects in inventory".

It sounds like you are talking about the window opening on its own at login. In the Second Life install folder in Program Files, go to app_settings and there is a 'settings.xml' file. In there is the following lines:

<key>ShowInventory</key>
- <map>
<key>Comment</key>
<string>Open inventory window on login</string>
<key>Persist</key>
<integer>1</integer>
<key>Type</key>
<string>Boolean</string>
<key>Value</key>
<integer>0</integer>
</map>

I'm a bit light on xml, but I am guessing that might help you out. However, it may not apply on a login right after a crash.
