Truthfully I rarely look at the in world search because often when I do go explore it just frustrates me. I have never looked at showcase and only briefly looked at popular places which was over a year ago and all of them had really bad camping malls and very little in anything I would considering that interesting. If it wasn't for few things I can creatively express myself, a few amusements like the forum and my friends truthfully I would have left Second Life out sheer boredom and frustration Second Life becomes incredibly boring fast as far as entertainment goes unless you're into poseball sex, laggy clubs with annoying gestures and shopping in equally boring places. Thing is even you're here to run a business with endless resources and talents with a lot of internet presence, established connections and friends who buy, promote your product majority of it seems sort of impossible to get ahead.

From: Cristalle Karami hear, hear. Well we can say hear hear all we want.. but really when it comes down to it, you are still going to have some joker yahoo gaming the system while offering stolen content or ripped off ideas from people who have put their blood, sweat and tears in this game. IMHO, there is no difference between the corporations being in showcase while having 0 people on their Sims and the malarkey of some ruthless club owner putting up a sky box with 70 bots in it... Now I have a few acquaintances who are Lindens.. but in all honesty.. they should remove their lips from the corporations pixelated behinds and return to their roots to what made this game so popular in the first place.... US.... the User who drives the SL economy

I am bit confused because one side I have read they don't care about the corporations or the money yet on same level they do seem to try to market themselves to business and corporations too. Either they are in it for the money or they aren't. How can they do both at same time? Either they want to create platform for expression and imagination for all or only want it to be business platform. Can this be done at same time with all host of issues that have went on for years? They only want to be web service provider but only if it suits their interest or lack of service they provide. Truthfully I am confused. Most business require a certain amount of profit to continue to run unless owner of said business has endless wealth and doesn't require profit, it is more of pet project. Yet at same time it seemed from what I may have misunderstood or understood is one of Linden said is they were concerned that stipends were costing them too much money for Premiums but removing stipends might cause too much uproar. Anyone else confused?

How do you get featured in Showcase?
02-17-2009 15:03
From: Felix Oxide How exactly does one get featured in the Showcase? Do you have to know a Linden to get in it? Just curious what the process is. That's my question too... Is it done by nominations? If so, how do we nominate a Showcase-worthy place?

In my experience traffic is usually inverse to quality. The more traffic a place has, the less it could be considered "quality".
Of course like anything there are some exceptions. But not many.

From: Jerboa Haystack Have you been to TWC sim Jesse? The place seriously rocks. Built by one of the best in SL. Personally, I have no problem with it being a showcase. It deserves it's spot there. Hilarious. 'Showcase' should changed to 'Linden Lab Picks'. Then they continue to use it to court corporate America without being called out for it. .
