Well, I am not amused. No where is a newbie told that you CANNOT transfur items to another while they are in Busy mode.. OR YOU LOOSE IT!!!...
So, through weeks of frustration over my credit card not taking direct debts, meaning I cannot varify my paypal account, so cannot buy full SL membership, nor buy Linden Dollars.. I finaly find a Linden exchange.. I'm all set... or so I thought...
I paid almost a thousand Linden for a gift for a friend.. sent it to her while she was in busy mode.. got a message that the items were not copyable... Send.. POOF!... message.....
CANNOT TRANFUR ITEMS TO MEMBER WHILE IN BUSY MODE.. YOU HAVE LOST YOUR STUFF AND YOUR MONEY.... SO HARD CHEESE!...
NICE OF YOU LINDEN.. THANKS FOR THE WARNING!!!!!!!!!
Now, where do I claim compensation please????

tell your friend to check the trash folder things transfered when in busy mode get sent to the trash
so as long as they have not emptied trash it should be there

i agree it is stupid but when buying through slexchange it does give precisely such a warning.
It doesnt get around what might happen if you send something and at the same time the recipient goes busy and you dont know they did so.
Items should in into a "while you were out" folder, hey why dont you file a jira on it and ask for votes for this new feature?
This is why i never use busy, i just ignore people instead while waiting to be offered loads of gifts

The warning is "Busy mode set, Chat and instant message will be hidden, All teleportation offers will be declined, ALL inventory offers will go to your trash" This warning must be OKed before it disappears, if people choose to not read warnings it is not Lindens fault. The person you sent the item to must look in their trash for the item.

thats not the warning he is on about. Say you send a gift to someone but dont know that person is in busy mode. You wonder why that person didnt acknowledge the gift after several days, by which time they have purged their trash.
It is a dumb way of dealing with sent inventory.

If this was purchased from SLX, contact support (under help...upper right hand corner of SLX web page) and see if they can assist you. Make sure you provide as much detail possible then be patient for them to respond. My experience has been very positive with them.

Little FYI thing, items sent by an av to an av in busy mode go to the trash folder. Items sent by an object, such as an SLX Magic Box, to an av in busy mode go poof gone forever. And I agree, very bad way to handle delivery to busy av's.

I haven't checked SLX for this functionality, but OnRez will let you resend copyable items with the click of a link for no extra charge. Since I only shop online if an in-world item is no trans, that generally works quite well for me.

my advice is, next time, always IM the person and check she-he is NOT busy...tell her-him you are going to send something and everything will go smoothly! (that's how I used to pay my land fees, I used to send and IM to the landowner first!)

From: Craig Altman The warning is "Busy mode set, Chat and instant message will be hidden, All teleportation offers will be declined, ALL inventory offers will go to your trash"
This warning must be OKed before it disappears, if people choose to not read warnings it is not Lindens fault.
The person you sent the item to must look in their trash for the item. This was NOT the message I got Craig Altman .... Thank you for ASSUMING I do not read!!!!!... Just because some people do not read, and you do always I take it.. does not mean the WHOLE of the human race does not read also!... You manner towards me is not appreciated. Get a brain. Sassy Romano... Awesome Idea!.. I hope Linden does take this on.. Morgaine Christensen... thanks, my purchase was in SL.. and I choose, paid, and collected.. that is about as much information as I have in addition to the above. Patience is something I learned a very long time ago... and I have STILL yet to receive a reply from the seller.......... who I imediately returned to to explain and purchased a second set in the hope she would refund my first perchase... I've heard nothing back..... Which leaves me with my own oppinion of that.... JeanGenie Jewell... thank you, there will be no next time.. Phoenix Psaltery... QUOTE...'When you make a purchase at SLX the dialog box that comes up SPECIFICALLY warns you of this. Lrn2read. ' Thank you again for you not reading my original message.. I BOUGHT IN WORLD!!!... not in SLX... so, therefore, there was no message!!!.... It is you who need to...um... Lrn2read!... Sassy Romano.. thank you for your very kind defense.. I just put peoples attitudes towards newbies down to A$$hole syndrom.. Spelling right or wrong does not have any binding to the wise.. to mock others is a bad human habbit, leads to personal failure, and shows a very shallow mind. I am a top commisioned artist in RL, I cannot spell well.. but do not I take the piss out of those who cannot paint!... In fact, the better some one can spell the worse the artist! We all cannot be accademic, in the same way all accademics cannot be fantastic artist... um?.. I think I will keep my huge artistc tallent... must be SO boring to be able to spell, but unable to beautifly this world! My bad spelling condition is called DYSLEXIA.. get over yourself, as there is no word to describe yours.. Hawk

did you contact the person to whom you were trying to send it to?
did they check to see if it went to their trash?
(if this was answered forgive me as I did not read the entire thread)

Just because some people do not read, and you do always I take it.. does not mean the WHOLE of the human race does not read also!... You manner towards me is not appreciated. Get a brain. Um, I think what Craig meant was that that's the message you get when you set yourself busy, not when you try to send something to someone who *is* busy. In other words, he was explaining that the person you tried to send the gift to should have received that message when they set themselves busy, and would know (because they had to OK the box before busy mode could be set) that anything sent to them while they *were* busy would go into their trash. Or, in this case it seems, disappear altogether. Case of misunderstanding, I think. I really don't believe Craig intended it as an insult. Clearly, the lesson we all need to learn from your experience, Redtail, is that if we're going to send something expensive to someone, it might be a good idea to send them a quick IM first: something like, "You're not set busy, are you?" or, "Are you around?" If they *are* set busy then you'll receive the auto-response of "this resident is in busy mode" etc, and will know to wait until later before sending your gift. ETA: Regarding the SLX that people are saying here. You stated in your original post that you found an exchange. The fact that several people assumed you'd purchased through SLX serves to make me suspect they assumed this 'exchange' you found was SL Exchange, which sells not only items but L$ as well. The word 'exchange' for many residents automatically makes them think of SLX, so that's probably the underlying reason for the confusion there.

As everyone has said, the item isn't lost, your friend only has to retrieve it from their trash folder. No item lost, no money wasted, no need to be angry, no need for insults. ............. as for Craig getting a brain, heck I would be happy to not have one like him if I was as successful as him

From: Redtail Magic ...vituperation... You clearly missed the notice that comes up when you set yourself busy. It is not true that "No where is a newbie told that you CANNOT transfur items to another while they are in Busy mode.. OR YOU LOOSE IT!!!..." because the warning is there when you set yourself busy. You owe Craig an apology.

You owe Craig an apology. Oh dear! Context all wrong still. Let me explain it slowly... A newbie sent a gift to someone else who it turned out had busy set Newbie did not get any message because it was not the newbie who set busy mode. Recipient *may* have said item in trash *if* trash not purged. There is no way to establish whether someone has busy set when sending items without first sending an Im and so this is not the fault of the sender, especially a newbie who wouldnt know what happens. Hope this is clear? Can we get back to the hug now?

There have been many occasions when Busy Mode would have been very convenient to use, but I've heard so many horror stories of things that can go wrong that I never use it. Items tossed in trash, Friend requests denied (without explanation) -- the fault is in the terrible UI design.
The entire communication side of SL sucks. No categories for contacts except for friends (no business associates, customers, vendors, etc). No easy way to hide your presence for privacy or peace, no way to file IMs, no way to bookmark people without Friending or marking a site without actually going there to generate a LM.
Socializing is one of the key activities of SL, and one of the most integral in keeping people here, but the interface for dealing with people and groups is wholly inadequate.

Right well i've got off my silky peachy pert ass and created a JIRA for it:- http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2707Vote if you think items should not be sent to trash when in busy mode.
