Is there anything you can do to improve it? I'm looking at a hilltop proprety that - well, it's not really gray - more like marble pink. It looks the least like a junk yard of any place I've looked at.
Don't rush to buy your land. And consider paying a bit more for your plot in a nicer area. If your search is set to sort by $L per meter, go a few pages into it and see what kind of offerings there are for L$7-L$8 a meter. Might be surprised at how many nice plots are out there.

Over the long term it might be worth it to pay a bit more for land you like from the start rather than something you have to dress up or disguise. Over the course of time, it's the tier fees that really cost you rather than the upfront purchase price.

Off topic, but I just saw that my mainland prices thread got locked.

Strife: "This forum isn't for market discussion; there are many Resident Sites where this discussion is appropriate — Resident Answers is for Resident-to-Resident help. I'll close this thread..."

I've been part of economy and land discussions for a year and a half now and that is a definite first.

All the more odd considering how many General Discussion threads are alive and unlocked ATM.

I guess folks have to go to the land search themselves if you want to see what land is selling at right now and draw your own conclusions whether it's a good time or not to buy.

I don't disagree with Strife often but this one had me scratching my head also.

How do you join land? Do you need to request permission? I bought two pieces of land right beside eachother, and I would like to join them to increase my prim count. When I click edit terrain it doesn't give me join as an option.

Joining Land

Joining land is a very similar process, once again using the yellow land selection.

1. Stand on one of the parcels you wish to join to another. From the View Menu turn on Property Lines.
2. Ensure that both parcels of land are adjacent (they share a border at some point).
3. Ensure that both parcels are within the same region. You cannot join land across a region boundary.
4. Ensure that both parcels have the same owner. You cannot, for example, join your group land to your personal land.
5. Okay so far? Then right-click the ground and choose Edit Terrain or hit Ctrl+5 on your keyboard.
6. Now you're able to drag the yellow land select box. What you're aiming to do here is to drag the yellow selection such that it spans the border between the two parcels you want to join. You need to have selected a little land from both parcels that are to be joined. You do not need to select all of both parcels, just some from both.
7. With that done, you should now be able to click the Join button from the Edit pane. If you can't see this option but can see a More button, click that first and you should see the Join option appear.
8. With both parcels now joined into one, check the About Land window (right-click the ground and choose About Land) to make sure that your settings are correct.

Note: The combined parcel will take its name and settings from the parcel you first selected.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
