Thank you all for your suggestions, all gratefully received, I have made a note of them for next time.... I lke the idea of driving over zombies...!!

Yes I am feeling better now... I ended up having a conversation for a few hours with an unexpected new friend who saw this thread and offered his time to chat. You know who you are, thank you.

Glad i am not the only one who gets this way sometimes :)

Not Darkly Depressed... just mad... a little mayhem wouldn't come amiss...
Today I am the dark side of Desmond, looking for some small random acts of cruelty...

You're Desmonds Alt? :)

Hmm besides City Of Heroes. If you have a good system, the free demo of Crysis is worth a look.
You could go to Mystic Academy or another place offering meditation classes.

If you just want to verbaly exert some muscle there's Ahern or Waterhead welcome areas, you'll find plenty of eager challengers for verbal combat, most of them though don't realise they are jousting with a rubber spoon, so comedy relief is good.

For quick immediate violence and possibly equally as quick death where nearly anything goes, a Sandbox, maybe the Red & Blue Combat sandboxes, if you feel your Benilli shotgun is pretty good untill you meet someone playing street warefare with a gunship :)

Log out of SL, Shave your head. get the word SCUM tatooed on to your forehead. Purchase some Doc Martins boots and head off to a football match Once you have arrived then loudly abuse the apposing teams fans then start a pitch invasion. That should present you with an avenue to vent your anger.

(**by football I mean Soccer, not those American 'poofs in padding'**)

Oooo, forgot that one! I love the "lock & load" sound my shotgun makes. (SL & RL *grins*)

My garage. I have an old beer fridge there. I find that hitting it til my hands swell keeps me from taking it out on other people. It can get a little messy tho, depends on how much you bleed.

man--I would luv to find a Fight Club kind of place to bust some heads open! I know when I first started in SL i accidently found a boxing ring but I didn't stick around long enough to explore how boxing worked there. I'll have to look this up when I get home tonight.

Some time back I built some ferry boats that ply the waters of Waikiti. I found that shooting them was a good way to let off steam, but it wasn't enough as they never reacted to being shot. So I changed the scripting, so that they record damage and if you shoot them enough, they will sink. Now when I want to work off some aggression, I go fly around sinking the ferry boats. (Just remember to check that nobody is actually riding the ferries when you unleash DOOOOOM upon them...)

-Atashi

p.s. if you want to blast the boats, a) they react to impacts with objects that have the word 'bullet' in their name, and b) they are only fair-game when they are moving; when docked they are immune. Oh and c) after 2 minutes at the bottom, they reset and start over.

Some of the samurai and Yakuza clans would be right up your alley. No boxing, but lotsa bloodshed.

You could come to our sim Pure Combat, grab a gun, and go down and shoot people. We do have some rules on allowed weapons and attachments to keep lag low (lag is a major problem for SL Combat).

The Rausch Combat Sandbox was mentioned....dunno, it's useful for blowing stuff up, but generally my experience has been that it's laggy and tends to be more griefing than combat. Also, due to some bugs that LL still hasn't fixed, most people there are invincible and cannot be killed.

Wilder West is a good sim for flying and air combat. Shooting people down can definitely help blow off some steam. :)

Thanks for this info :) When I first began acquiring my SL weaponry we went to a large, fairly well-known combat sim. The last time I went there, however, the entire setup had been changed and now one just is tp'd right into the combat area (before you put on a meter and entered a designated area - someone without the meter could walk around the same area and be safe from damage). With the current setup, I tp'd in and before I'd rezzed I'd been shot by some hidden "sniper" and sent home.

This happened several times and took the fun out of being able to do anything but ping pong there and home. (My partner finally got fed up with that...we had the name of the "sniper" on our Mysti so next time he tp'd in he ummm....well let's just say the sniper got a bit of free air travel. ;) )

Long way of saying, I'd love to come to your place and do some shooting...and actually be able to...lol.

Yup, at our place we have the TP point set inside a "rules room," actually. This way people have to stop and read the rules of the sim first, before they can enter. Then the rules room takes you to the safezone platform (using instructions found in the rules), where you can socialize or buy guns and gear. At the safezone platform, you also join the group and get a HUD health-meter that you wear during combat. The platform is at 350m, and the health meter only becomes active below about 120m, so you can't be shot in the safezone or in the two respawn points (planes that sit at about 200m up).

You'll also want to grab a free parachute, and once you've got everything, you jump off the platform and parachute down into the combat zone. When you die, you get a respawn ball, and when clicked it takes you back up to one of the respawn spots above the combat zone, where you can't be killed until you jump back down into combat again. You can also click the HUD to get a menu that gives you the option to rez a different ball to take you back up to the safezone.

Since we don't use the default Linden Damage system, the only way you can be TPed home is if you grief the sim and an admin sends you home :)

Also, we only allow approved weapons (list provided with the rules), but we do offer several free weapons for use there, which are available in the safezone.

hmmmm, I would open the door and drink the beer instead of beating up the fridge.

Don't do that to your hands. You'll wind up with arthritic claws. Buy a trampoline or channel excess energy into sex or something.
