Is there somewhere that gives ratings for clothing stores, footwear stores etc? I've found some very nice clothes in SL and some not-so nice. I know there are loads of shops and wondered if there was a way of cutting down on foot traffic but going to what you really want. In my case, I'm looking for up-market stuff. I'd rather pay extra and get something gorgeous than buy several outfits cheaply, but I have no idea where to start.
By way of an extra question, does anyone have any favourite up-market clothes stores in SL?

Not aware of any clothes store rating system. I think your best bet is to go on recommendations of other forum posters. There is a thread over in Products Wanted that suggested several stores. I tried some of them and found the quality to be very high end. You might want to check that out and give it a whirl.
Some stores I like for nice clothing (since I hate those slutty looking prim mini skirts that look like a ballerina tutu) are Nicky Ree and VS Designs for formalwear, Savy Avy and Callie Cline's shop for casual and Awesome Designs for a bit of everything.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'up-market'. Do you simply mean expensive, good quality? Does the style not matter? There was a long thread not to long ago (so most stores will still be open) that had a bunch of suggestions. Until someone else comes along with more, take a look here, /327/5c/241664/1.html.

I'm always tempted to buy all clothes in this blog: http://michami.net/blog/It has a "Classy and expensive" feel. http://bonnieclyde.wordpress.com/Great stuff for men too.

SLExchange is a website for merchants to promote and sell their items.
It has a rating system in that customers who buy products may rate the produts they buy. There's the simple rate it 1 starts to 5 method (with the average rating listied wtih the product). The customers have the option of leaving text reviews, which you can read with the product description.
Plus, since it's web-based, you don't have to worry about crashing on teleport, or waiting for a store to rez.
