People talking about making a profit for the sake of profit is bad business... I have a business.. I don't do it for the money, I do it because I enjoy building, and others like what I do build.. When I started building I did it for me, but friends of mine told me that I should sell what I make rather then just make it and shove it in a folder.. Well I have done so with my partner, and now we have a nice store with good numbers.. Nothing steller, nothing to quit my rl job and devote my full time to SL.. But I enjoy building, and as long as that continues, and as long as there are people out there wanting it, and requesting things, I will do just that Customer service is the key to any good business, and I always, always, always strive to make my customers happy.. Thats the bottem line!!! The key to a succesfull business is customer satisfaction! Didn't mean to turn the thread around, but I am in a positive mood, and I wish to remain that way *hugs* Jeza

From: Manstan Beaumont Correct me if I am wrong but 30% of 1 mil is 300k. So only .3% of those 9mil AVs are active. That doesn't sound good. I was simply using two metrics to demonstrate how unkilled SL is. 1. Avatars created; less than 1 to almost 9 in one year. A lot of people are hearing about SL and trying it out. However, I recognize that the value of this figure is questioned. People sign up but find their computer doesn't let them play. They try it but don't like it. They play for awhile, then quit. So I also cite a second metric: 2. Active residents: those who've logged in within the past 60 days. Currently more than 1.6 million, 30% more than what it was 6 months ago, which was about 1.25 million. But if SL is dead or dying, I'm open to your yardstick. What shall we use to measure growth/decline? Certainly I'd take a hard look at growth RATES (slowing, but still GROWTH rates).

Simply put, it must be end of days........
LL is doing a pretty good job.
Sorry to say, but profit is not a sin - greed is.....Don’t be a ginko
Statistics can be manipulated

From: Colette Meiji Im trying to figure what the 10 steps out of LL's "plan to kill its own biz" would be.
I mean if you buy thats what they are doing (not saying I do)
- these are the steps I get:
1. Drop Credit Card Verification, allowing open registration.
2. Remove advertizing on Age-Play
3. Remove advertizing on Gambling
4. Institute Turn in your neighbor Anti Broadly-Offensive policy.
5. Ban Age-Play
6. Ban Gambling
7. Add Voice Chat
9. Add Identity and Age verification, with associated Content controls.
10. Merge Teen Grid and Adult Grid. As long as they are allowed to offer skill based games with pots i don't see to many problems for the future of SL apart from the fact that it is bleeding edge technology. I've learnt to deal with it though, you just need to wait a few days and everything seems to start working again. I did however see some furniture disappear when i was shopping today which was the first time I've seen that, it was very bizarre.
