It is indeed true that Her Majesty's realm sucks so much that her own subjects are turning on her and providing reasons for said suckage in the 'England Sucks' thread.
As a show of solidarity, I ask the Americans among us to provide reasons why America sucks. The benefits are staggering. Not only will a smile be brought to the grubby faces of your dejected cousins across the pond, but our taxation burden will be reduced because fewer fluoxetine prescriptions will be issued in the coming weeks. Think of it as therapy!

Everywhere sucks.
Really, it does. Finding happiness in life is just a matter of finding a less sucky place, in relative terms. But it all sucks. The government sucks. Laws suck. The voters everywhere suck. Other people suck. It all sucks, whether they are Americans or Germans or Brits or what have you. I've lived in quite a few places in my adult life, and at the end of the day they all sucked for some reason or other. The only difference was that some of them sucked a little bit less than the others, and probably because I was born in the US, and am accustomed to some things in the US, in some ways the US seems less sucky than some other places I have lived ... but it still pretty much sucks. |

I knew responding to Chris was a mistake. That wasn't what this thread was supposed to be about. I just saw the stereotypes and inaccuracies in his post about European life (my nearest neighbour lives 1/4 a mile away and i'm sick to death of the number of 4x4s on the road as it happens) and couldn't resist a repond in kind. I don't actually believe in two or three of the American stereotypes I fired back, and it doesn't come across as parodic at all .. so bad idea. Sorry about that.
As for this being Resident Answers and not a General Forum, I think most people recognise what a joke that statement is thesedays. Enough posts entirely outside the scope of the rules of Resident Answers are left unlocked for this to appear like a General Forum, so when posts _are_ locked and/or sent for LR for being too General, it is all the more unjust and ridiculous. I'm all for drawing attention to that bit of forum hypocrisy. _____________________
