Actually, The Day the Earth Stood Still is from 1951. And the remake is due in December, so as a promotional blitz, they are off by some months.

That one and Rashomon 2010 are some of the very few remakes which actually make some sense. They are universal stories which can be retold in a new society, resounding again for another generation.

Remake? Why? That movie belongs in its own context. Besides, they couldn't possibly top the Hermann soundtrack which for over fifty years has been Science fiction's anthem to me.

Right, so man has always had a dream or an inkling, about our other worldly brothers and sisters..not a pipe dream, but I really do hope this time it's for real..otherwise, its gonna be a long, boring winter, and I'd rather sandpaper the butt of an alligator in a phone booth.

Because of the distances involved no travel is feasible but once communications are improved we set up SL type sims for both worlds to meet in.

Unfortunately, red-lines, overpricing, griefers and unrelenting drama cause both sides to eventually pull the plug.

It's a great story no doubt. But usually, remakes are crap. Who is in this one? Is it going to be another bloated Speilbergesque yawnfest like War of the Worlds?

It's quantum physics, black hole, string theory..that's how they travel..besides..if a pair of sunglasses on earth can cost more than a digital television, then anything is possible.

btw, where would our global economy be when every living person has been brainwashed with peace, love and all that crap?

best sold items are guns and ammunition, we`d be totally screwed with the following collapse

There aren't many film composers who can come near Hermann left alive unfortunately.

Danny Elfman might be able to do something interesting.
