From: Allison Selene What are the criteria that determine "success?" While I would love to keep out the bots, I would want to know a lot more about this service before I use it on my parcels. the criteria in determining success is practice, programming and observation. while the methods i know are not easily described and explained, they are even further not easy to understand. to begin to understand how this really works, you have to understand all the functions in LIBSL and the source code for the viewer, how and what data is exchanged between the client and server. think of SL as one giant website forum.

From: Jannae Karas Who really gives a s**t ? Bots are a fact of life on the web and virtual worlds. They are only going to become a bigger presence in meatspace. Its time to start coming to grips with them.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville A plain LL client run by sending it mouse and keyboard messages should be very hard to detect. yes. but using a macro on an SL client without timing data, it wont stay synchronized for long.

Please explain your last remark. === Incidentally, Mashable.com has a story about AI in SL, at http://mashable.com/2008/03/14/ai-second-life/=== An AI operating a standard client through insertion of keystroke and mouse messages might be very difficult for an automated bot detector to pick up on.

Now what we really need is these bots to hunt down and kill the lag bots, a few thousand should keep the place clean

From: EliteData Maximus what about AFK legitimate users ? Well, if you go to sleep standing up in a mall for 2 hours you can't expect to be pampered

"you can control it from in world."
If you mean a human controlling one client from another client that probably takes it out of the bot category.

If you mean a human controlling one client from another client that probably takes it out of the bot category. It only means that nice familiar LSL can be used to do most of these things a little more simply without digging too far into the client.

I wonder if your thingy would detect my full-client bot as a bot, and my avatar parked at a club while I work in Photoshop not a bot.
