Many thanks. In light of the comments, it's interesting that the ones I saw are being sold for L$250, but available for free elsewhere. People will try to sell anything.

Yes the mega prims are freebies folks. I hope you reported that guy. They can be distributed free in world from many people including me, and can be found on slexchange.com for free as well. Buying them only actively shows newbism.

This is one area I would be very cautious about using them. While the Lindens have said they will not bother with them unless they cause problems, they also haven't exactly guaranteed that they will remain for any indefinate period of time. You could one day end up with a bunch of pissed off customers. I'm not sure I'd be selling anything I made with them..

True true. I use them for personal uses such as my enchanted sky forest.

1. I use the 20x20x.05 prim all the time. Its a One Prim Platform or Wall replacing Four. Add texture, and it can look great.

I use that prim a lot too. I use it on my enchanted sky forest. the main floor is a 100x100x0.1 hehe.

It serves you right for buying something that was marked for sale in a sandbox. There are rules against selling in sandboxes - if it were legal, sellers would take over the sandboxes every day (as free retail space) and no one would be able to use the area as intended.

Its ignorant behavior like yours (buying stuff for sale in sandboxes) that perpetuates this behavior. Do you also buy stuff that's advertised in spam emails?

Nice helpfuly ignorant response there.................take some "nice" pills FGS.
Well if they were the ones I brought in a sandbox they seem fine, they cost $0 lindens to buy, and were owned by the sandbox owner but I made a donation to the sandbox anyway. And I did have trouble unpacking mine, I think they were in a box in a box so to speak, I didn't work out how to get them the first time, but did the second time.
I had some issues with falling throught the floors on some of my 20x20x.5 ones one day so I deleted & replaced them, no problems now, definately saves a lot of prims. Actually come to think of it the 2 problem floors were the ones I copied using shift up, rather than rezzed from inventory.

I bought a package that said it contained giant prims last night (in a sandbox). I seem to be too dumb to know how to use this one. I don't see any contents. Either that or it truly is empty.

Never ever ever buy *ANYTHING* in a sandbox.

Someone reported a mega-prim used for griefing on a sim (not their own) last week. A Linden promptly removed the prim, as well as several 20x20x0.5 ones that were part of an actual build on that sim due to their contribution to lag on that sim.

If you have your own private sim, they're fine to use. Anywhere else, don't use them for anything you can't replace with regular prims afterwards.

Every time you use a mega prim, another kitten gets drowned in a burlap sack.

Please think of the kittens.

I can't remember the name of the Group off-hand...but there is a Group called HUGE PRIMS or somethin, that you can join in-world. They don't like that people are re-selling Huge prims, so they give you, upon Group IM request, the full collection of huge prims for FREE in a folder.

Folks just sell em on Slexchange cause this is a little known fact. I have seen the freebie leather jackets for sale in shops, this is pretty close to the same thing. You can join the Group, get your Prims & leave, save your hundreds of L$.

As far as use in building, the only huge Prim that I have found useful and pretty dependable is the 20x20x5. It never gave me "ghost" rezzing problems, it stayed put...and it's great for walls. BE VERY CAREFUL WHERE YOU REZ THESE.
