new viewer 1.23.4

I know there are other posts about this, but have been getting WORSE AND WORSE with this viewer.

It takes me a good 15 min to rezz when I go into a place with people in it. My attachments dont attach, or dont detach for me on my screen yet others say they are or are not!

My skybox which normally takes seconds to load takes 5 min!


This is garbage and they never should have released this viewer!

There is NO improvements whatsoever in i.

I will admitt the first few days it was ok I didnt have to many issues but 5 days into it! BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRAP

I will now tonight uninstall this POS and revert back to myt old viewer TG I saved it on my HD,

I have heard various people say similar. I've used the 1.23 RC for quite some time (since it was still 1.23.1.xxx) and I find it to be better than any SL viewer in a long, long time.

The actual Build number is different between the RC and the Official viewer, so I wonder if they managed to mess something up in their final build -- the RC is 1.23.4.123523 and the Official is 1.23.4.123908.

Maybe try downloading and installing the RC and see if there is any difference for you.

RC4 and the official viewer are the same, I asked this in the blog.

I haven't had as many issues as others, rezzing is slower for me but the other issues such as regular crashing etc. haven't manifested themselves for me, I use the RC viewer about 50% of my time at the moment and find it ok but the huge list of bugs with the viewer indicate it shouldn't have been released, it's a bodge to plug a gap. The devs have their eyes on viewer 2009, this was released purely for the adult content changes, it's a politically motivated viewer and it shows.

I noticed the same thing. RC 1.23.4 worked really well for me and I assumed that the latest official viewer would be about the same or even better but the official was kinda craptastic for me personally. I'm not sure if it's just bad timing with all the login/region problems over the last few days and folks think it might be the new viewer.

Ok, I'm not sure where to post this, nor am I even sure what the problem is....here goes....Ever since I downloaded the latest version of SL....all avatars change colors, including my own avatar. It doesn't matter where I'm standing or when i walk or anything like that. Sometimes we're red, sometimes blue, gold, yellow, orange etc. It's only the avatars....everything else is the color it should be. Can someone help me with this? I'm guessing it's something with the Graphics, but I don't know enough to be computer savy. I've asked other avatars around me if I look a different color, and they all tell me no I look normal.

I seldom ever believe what LL says anymore. The number on the download means that it is a different build of the exe. Even if they **think** it included all of the exact same versions of the components, it is always possible that they picked up a new version on one or more components. Too many people have complained about the official released version vs the actual RC version.

I too hate this 1.23.4.........what I get out of it people walking around with their heads no body (kinda freaky) among lots of other issues...........I want my 1.23 viewer back.

I seriously think they need to test things out before having everyone download it and wishing they didn't............is there anyway I can get my 1.23 viewer back?????

Both the current Official release and the Release Candidate are 1.23 -- just slightly different build numbers. You can get the RC version off of the regular download page -- middle of page where it says Test Viewers

I downloaded and installed the 1.22 but when I went in to use it.....it stated that I had to update to the 1.23.4 to use second life.......I tried the RC one and well all I seen was glowballs including myself...it takes to long to load......this really suck being stuck with something I don't like.....maybe I won't have to, maybe I just need to quit since they are doing alot of changes that really taking the fun away anyways.

You should try a complete de-install of SL, including cleaning out the registry and then reload the 1.22 version. I just successfully logged in with it and it did not tell me that I had to upgrade.

Using LL's snowglobe viewer. They should have made it the new release.

Where do you get that one?

Info and download link here. Running well for me on Vista 64 Home Premium. Had a strange issue yesterday morning while building, but I think that had nothing to do with the viewer given the incidents of the day.

Very quick to render scenes, and i get a better frame rate. Still investigating it's capabilities.

That's surprising. I never updated because I was away.....and I'm still using 1.22, works fine. I see the messege in the upper corner on the start screen....but I ignore it because I'm NOT updating until I read that all the crap has been fixed. I just logged in 10 minutes ago with it.....no problem at all.

I'd be leery of that viewer just because of of it's name. 1.23.4...just too orderly to be from LL....

I get about half the FPS on my Mac with Snowglobe that I get with the 1.22 client. 17 FPS on Snowglobe vs 30 to 32 FPS with the same settings on 1.22.

Interesting. Most Windoze users report faster FPS than the official viewer. This ranges from small to great. Most amazing thing is how quickly textures load.

Edited to note that Jannae did not notice that you were comparing to 1.22

I was getting 50-60 fps at my home sim -- normally I run 30-40 there. I just TPd to a store that is always horrid for me. I am only getting 10-15 fps, but I normally drop down to about 5 here, so it is still an improvement.

The big test will be the Hangout today - especially after we really start getting people there for the party.


ETA: After being at that horrid store for a few minutes, my fps went up to 20-25 and stayed in that range. I have never gotten that kind of fps in this store.

Remember it's as alpha as you can get (expect bugs), but then again you could say the same about 1.23.4 which is the "official" viewer.

Like with all else, try it and use it if it works for you.
