Skirt not showing/attachments not attaching

Release Candidate viewer, first off.... Not sure if this is effecting all viewers/entire grid, but can you please let me know if you're experiencing the following:


1) "Cannot complete attachment. An attachment is pending for that spot. "

I assume this is not viewer related but would like to know if this is just me. It happens on my home sim (rented parcel/other parcels) on an island, as well as on mainland.

2) This is the odd one. I wear a skirt (non-prim, the regular clothing) and it only shows when I'm in Edit Appearance mode?? Bizarro.


Additional non-essential information:

* I have not (yet) been drinking today

* My eyes are not closed

* I am not on drugs

Deandra- do a search here in the forum - it is been going on a while and there is a jira for it. Solutions include appearance mode and rebaking of textures repeatedly. Eventually it stops happening. Goodluck.

That's two separate problems, and neither of them is the fault of the Release Candidate viewer.

The "Cannot complete attachment" message is (I think) a symptom of LL's often-overloaded asset servers. When it happens to me, I simply try attaching the item again. It always works on the second (or third or fourth) try.

The invisible system skirt is a bug that appeared in the WindLight viewers back as far as when they were in Release Candidate status. However, it's gotten lots worse, and more widespread, with the 1.20 RC viewers.

There are several threads on this issue. One of the most recent is /327/aa/251360/1.html

Try some of the fixes that other people have suggested in that thread. They haven't worked for me, but they may for you.

LL has identified a fix for this bug, but does not plan to put it into the 1.20 viewer release. It may make it into 1.21. Meanwhile, plan on wearing a lot of pants.

I'm sure I'm echoing the sentiments of designers grid-wide, here (on either the regular or prim attachment borkiness) but...

I don't suppose putting an ad in SLX or a vendor pic in my store with an arrow and "Imagine skirt here" would help my (non-existent) sales any, eh? LOL

Fix is committed, but I don't know if it will make the 1.21 viewer or not. We'll have to see how the QA process goes. I'll keep you posted.

Two points:

When this fix is introduced, you may still have a disappeared skirt when you try it on the first time as it will still use the old, borked, baked texture at first. Hit ctrl+alt+r for a rebake and it should look fine.

Also, if anyone is running open source, I could post a patch if you all want to check out the fix and see if it works for you. Let me know if anyone's interested.
