Can you please try to explain in a little more detail what exactly happened? Did you try to rez objects which disappeared? Did stuff disappear from your inventory w/o any intervention from you? Thanks.

And don't worry. People here may shout at times, but not at you. ;)

I have a similar problem. A large number of objects I had stored in a Rez faux suddenly just failed to rez a about a month ago. Of the several hundred, only two remain unscathed. All of the objects are "visible" when I look in the Rez Faux's content window and I can copy/move them back into my normal inventory. But when trying to rez, I'm told they're missing for the database. All objects were made my me so I have full permissions on them (save for the Rez Faux positioning script within them).

Any thoughts?

I'm getting this on a few notecards in my vendors lately. I go to edit the notecard and get a "Missing from database" error message.

Notecards are easily replaced but other items aren't.

Having items exist only inside of a unique prim and nowhere else is really just asking for trouble.

After the garbage collector marks an asset as orphaned (it's not referenced from anywhere on the grid any longer) it's moved out of the active asset set (from this point on you start getting "Missing from database";) to temporary storage (in case it wasn't actually ophaned) where it will exist for a while (the first "Missing from database" error should trigger a restore) until it's eventually deleted and you're out of luck altogether.

Kitty, I didn't know that, thanks for the info.

However, it seems even more likely that the OP has fallen prey to the "Item Missing from Database" bugs. Particularly given the grid's instability yesterday. (If you use Search, you will see tons of threads on this already). Sometimes these items return, sometimes not. You may be able to get them back by clearing your cache (Edit/Preferences/Network tab, checkbox for clear cache) and relogging. LL also recommends deleting your cache completely and re-installing SL. If that doesn't work, the item(s) may return in a day or few on their own anyway. <oops sorry I see you cleared cache already, well anyway ...>

If not, below I give a workaround for copiable items (I haven't tried this personally, but Jessica has posted it a few times, so its worth a try). Further below, I give the Jira bugs that relate to this if you wish to add your vote to urge LL to fix this issue.

Jessica Elytis:

I found a work-around for COPIABLE items that have this problem.
Go into yoru Inventory and R-Click on the itme giving you the error to get the drop down menu.
Make a COPY of your item.
Go to a ~different~ folder and PASTE the itme there.
Rez item from new folder.
Rez item from old location.
Delete un-needed copies as desired.

The JIRA issue # is SVC-553, "numerous reports of objects, notecards, scripts, gestures "missing from database". Many people have filed bugs on this, but they are all being marked "resolved" and folded into this bug. So, please, go vote -- LL seems unaware that this is suddenly at epidemic levels.

Also relevant is Bug SVC-114, recently retitled "Meta-Issue: Inventory Loss: issues, fixes, development". This relates particularly to the no-copy-item-disappear-on-rez nastiness.

The third relevant bug is one requesting per-resident inventory backup:
VWR-358, "New feature -> Inventory -> Back-up/Export"

I'm sure you're all sick of Nika's how-to-vote tips, so I won't include them. BUT if anyone needs them, please reply to this.

yea right! then if that true.why doesnt that trigger my lost objects and gestures? No once lost like that you never get them back.........Now i had objects return after 1 year and 11/2 years. But lost from data base never had them returned.

I guess it still isn't fixed.

Maybe if the FBI gets on the missing items from database base case, it will get some priority. As was mentioned elsewhere, having items in the inventory could be considered gambling.

What really sucks is that some of the assets the stupid process marks for removal ARE still referenced and thus affects all the objects that reference to it. *mutters darkly* Textures being the main issue for this kind of situation. I spent last weekend and a good part of this week trying to fix one such asset removal. And it wasn't stored in an object.. just my inventory.

Not enough to stop me from doing what I love, but enough to bother the crap out of me.

Twilight zone...

Hello! I have that problem since last week. I loose around 30% of my jewels textures and 10% of my building and vendors textures. On last thursday I loose half of them and monday I loose the other half part, but that time, I loose items too. The items are still in my inventory, but when you try to rez them it say the they are missing from the database. The textures are now simply vanished, I still have the files in my inventory, but they are empty (0 x 0). And yes, it's affecting the items that my customers have bought in my store months ago.

So now everything is so messy, that I had no choice and my store is now temporary closed since 5 days. Very good for business and reputation. A filled a support ticket a week from now and no new at all. Very bad customers service!!! Unforgiven for a big business like Lindens. They have seriously to think about a kind of backup system for important inventory stuff or at least a way to re-upload those textures when they are suddenly missing..

Antoine, I feel so badly for you. Have you tried the solution Nika posted above? /327/10/215148/1.html#post1708331

Thank you for your nice words, Miles Beck. Yes I tryed that solution but it's not working for me. They mess with my inventory just 2 days before the releasing of our new collection that took 3 months to build. As long that our jewels are scripted, I will have to redo them and refill them with a new script for the textures... so probably over 4000 pieces to redo!!! I want to cry!!!!!!
