Hi all, i have a doubt. Yesterday, going to my bank, i have thought: there will be my lindens? or i will found improbably-bonds or chips or appetizers or biscuits? I deposit (or bet?), my lindens into an ATM, and i hope that in a future, ATM give me an amount of lindens bigger than my initial "deposit". Probability that i lose all my lindens is very high as a gambling, and the banker, ops!, the bank, take all! Is it gambling? I think that the current sl-bank system, without an Authority (ie Official Linden Bank) that verify bank's coverage and it all sensitive parameters, is gambling.

Good day to everybody.

Not this chestnut again.

No random number generator is involved, unless you count the brain chemistry of the person who runs that "bank". Which LL apparently does not.

otoh, any "bank" which is not properly accredited is little better than a ponzi scheme, and only a fool would place money in one. by the common sense definition, I guess it can be called gambling. By the rules as written by LL, no it is not a banned activity.

I've got some small investments going on. If it goes tits up then it's no great loss. I'd rather it didn't but it's certainly not going to bankrupt me but as there's no real protection, it is a sort of gamble. Anyone who in banks here is taking a risk, you have to decide how much of a risk you're willing to take.

That notion (is X or Y gamblng) was funny the first 1,000 times I heard it, but by that afternoon it was getting old.

Sandro, got any jokes about the flashing 12:00 on your VCR for us? Maybe something about parachute pants?

Seriously, you're right that entrusting an unlicensed, unregulated "bank" with your money is a foolish thing to do. So assuming you really do, why do you?

Thanks all for fast reply!
Sorry for my thoughtless. I thought that all gambling were forbidden from SL.
I have transferred lindens from sl-bank to sl-bank to test web-site, system ecc. only for my personal amousement, and not to invest my lindens. I known all risks

why someone would use an inworld bank, I will never understand...

CRUST (recipe makes one double crust):
2 1/2 cups white flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cold butter, broken into small pieces
5 tbsp. cold vegetable shortening
8 tbsp. ice water

Measure the flour, sugar and salt togetherl. Stir to combine.
Add the chilled butter pieces and shortening to the bowl. Cut them in with a pastry cutter or knife. Don't over mix them.
Add the ice water. Mix until the dough holds together (add a bit more water, if necessary).
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead it together, then divide in half.
Flatten each half into a disk, wrap in saran wrap and chill for at least half an hour.
Roll out one of the disks on a lightly floured surface until you have a circle that's about 12 inches in diameter.
Put the circle in a 9" pie plate, trimming any extra dough from the edges with a sharp knife (parents only). Return it to the refrigerator until you are ready to make the pie.
Add filling (see below)
Roll out the second ball of dough and cover top. Use a fork or your fingers to pinch the edges together. cut a couple slits in the top.

FILLING
1/3 to 2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
8 medium sized apples (a medium apple = about 1 cup)
2 tablespoons margarine

Heat oven to 425 degrees.
Peel, core and slice the apples. Try to keep the size of the slices even.
Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt in large bowl.
Stir in apples.
Pour into pastry-lined pie plate.
Dot with margarine.
Cover with top crust and seal the edges. Cut slits in the top.
OPTIONAL: Cover edge with 3-inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent too much browning. Remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking.

Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust.

I have tried to deposit my lindens in my rl-bank but....

I have deposited small amount of lindens to test web-site bank, to understand available web-functions, ATM, credit card, hidden costs, real interest, ecc. and not to invest my lindens.

Subtract 32, then divide by 1.8.

I.e., around 220 degrees Celsius.

Maybe because there is an economic system available in SL, involving a currency, purchase and sale of items?

It's a guess..

imo that recipe makes the task unnecessarily tedious and complex. sweet/savoury paste is sexier, uses half the ingredients, takes half the time, and can be batch prepped and refrigerated.

Giving mony to an SL "bank" effectively means lending other people you lindens, without any guarantee of getting any of them back. They don't even have to.

Good! is possible to transfer Linden from slx (slexchange.com?) to SL account? How to?

I'm afraid to lose my lindens as my objects from inventory

sign up for and verify your av with slx, then get a slx remote deposit box and keep it rezzed somewhere.

to deposit L$ into slx, use the atm locater on the slx site, visit the atm, then 'pay' the atm amount you want to deposit*
to withdraw L$ from slx into you sl account just click the withraw link on the slx site and enter the amount, then the slx bot will pay you $ in-world.

* beware that it is a scam to put an invisible prim in front of atm's, allowing you to pay $ to a crook. make sure you are paying money to 'SLXTerminal Bigwig'.
