Hello again all,

Well after the previous thread I did deside to go fully forward with the free store plan. I created the stores and just now wrote a notecard with conditions, and I am asking again to you folks here what you think of it. I am not world's most business minded person, all I want is help a bit where I can with space and prims and therefor I am counting on your minds and knowledge to give some pointers.

I want to get this idea inworld soon. I am feeling anxious to start this plan.

The notecard:

From: someone
Hello and Welcome to Creative Hearts.
These 12 stores are available for new starting Content Creators who have
no main store yet. This is to give them a push in the right direction and
giving them a chance to start on the retail market.
These stores are, under below mentioned conditions, absolutely free. No
tier charges, all sales are 100% for you. Donations welcome offcourse,
but not obligated.
Please read the remainder of this notecard carefully to learn about the
conditions and rules.
Conditions:
* This program is for all content creators trying to start off on the market.
* Avatar age or experience is not important.
* Anyone that can operate within the rules can apply.
* We have last say in who gets a store at any given time.
Rules:
* NO resell, business in a box, affiliate etc etc.
* You Currently have no mainstore.
* You want to sell your OWN work, not copied material.
* You can use up to 50 prims.
* Keep scripted objects at a minimum.
* Max 1 vendor machine per person.
* Group inviters, Info givers and greeters by touch only.
* You can place a board from Xstreet that links to your Xstreet marketplace.
* This is for a 3 month maximum period, starting the day you got the store.
* After 3 months, I will place a sign with an LM and Info giver to your store
(if you have one) For at least another 3 months.
* Promotion and advertising is your own responsibility.
* No parcel rights will be given other then Rezzing Objects.
* You can create direct Landmarks to your store, no forced entry is set on
this sim.
Products that will not be allowed:
* Anything Adult rated, this SIM is Mature and won't be upgraded to ADULT.
* Griefer weapons and tools.
* If in doubt, talk with us first!
I thought of this program to help out new creators. I expect you treat this
opportunity with respect. If you claim a store and don't do anything with it,
Or break any of the rules, you get one warning, If you do not respond after
that, we will give the spot to someone else.
Tip:
if you want to know more about getting sales and promoting, I advise you
to read the following thread on the Second Life Forums:
/327/ac/274749/1.html
There are a lot of great people on this forum in 'residents answer' that can
help with questions you might have on this topic or any other. There is a
whole lot of knowledge, be smart and use this in your advantage.

Give your thoughts!!

Ps, stores are up, anyone wanting to be quick, leave a message in this thread if you want a spot.

It looks good to me. Very clear and straightforward.

The format is a bit squished, with the line breaks falling awkwardly due to the forum width, though on a notecard where you can stretch it that shouldn't be a problem.

I caught a couple of capitalization glitches, only because my brain went into proofreading mode:

> * You Currently have no mainstore.

May want to make the 'C' lowercase.

> I thought of this program to help out new creators. I expect you treat this
opportunity with respect. If you claim a store and don't do anything with it,
Or break any of the rules, you get one warning, If you do not respond after
that, we will give the spot to someone else.

Recommend changing 'Or' to lowercase.

You're making me wish I had enough stuff - and had it organized enough! - to apply...

Sounds very clear to me. One thing you haven't mentioned is whether there is any limit on where people can rez objects...ie, can they pop a display out in shared areas, or must they remain wholly inside their shop?

But it's good :)

looks real good to me too although you might want to state prim limits (if any and I would hope there are lol) on the note as well

Very nice offer. I copy-past the text into a note card and think you could save a lot of text just make short statements, more compact like in an expensive promotion advertising (hehe) coz people are pretty lazy reading things.

Great offer ;)

I must have missed the prior thread. I have a friend inworld who does this. He owns a memorial sim, and has a mall of some kind on it that is free space for people. I don't know his criteria or conditions. Might want to ask him, just to get some ideas of your own. I'm not even sure he's still doing it, he was awhile back, I saw him offering the space, on group chat. His name is Mike Burleigh.

I'm not sure if you want to make a statement about using temp rezzers and maybe throw in a general statement that all content/behaviour must be in compliance with the TOS and Community Standards. Otherwise it's great! Good luck with it.

I would define the amount of time after renting that they have to get the store set up....i have had issues with this in the past where partly finished stores are taking up space others could use.

Good point. Even though the notecard does say that you must actually use the space, you should define a specific time limit on the setup.

@Benski -- I think it is a fabulous idea and I think you have done a good job spelling out your expectations. After it all gets setup, I would suggest that you come up with some sort of advertising sign that gives this notecard and then see if you can get that sign placed at various spots that are geared towards helping folks.

Working on that right now, thanks for the tip. The note is indeed large.

I sure don't want any temp rezzers on my sim or TOS and CS violating materials. So surely will throw that in too. Thanks!

Yes good point, I am going to specify that part a bit more.

That's a great idea. I also heard about more places that do this, maybe coörporation with those people might help.

Am redoing the notecard now, and will post it here when done :) thanks for all the help folks, forum never lets you down ;) LL don't shut it down!! hehe

I suggest you do NOT allow FLOATING TEXT as it tends to bleed through walls into neighboring stores. I also suggest something to the effect of "I reserve the right to return any scripted objects that impact Sim performance". Other than those 2, you seem to have everything covered :-)

Benski....have you considered adding a clause that you reserve the right to cancel at any time....or did I miss it.

There are a number of reasons why you would want to do this:

1) You get someone that is really obnoxious toward the other renters....even though they follow all the rules....they are still a disturbance.

2) You get someone that is rude to you, personally....and not appreciative of what you are offering....starts imposing demands....sending you a dozen IM's a day....etc.....just annoying behavior in general.....again, they follow the rules, but are a disturbance.

3) Your building business takes off, and you need the sim space for your own business.

4) You become involved in a new business, and need your sim space for it.

5) Your RL requires more time from you....and you need to scale down in SL.

6) SL changes the rules mid-game that would effect your sim ownership, business efforts....etc....and you have to change plans.

If you had that clause....no one could accuse you of ripping them off or doing bad business (well, they will accuse you of this...but you clearly stated it in your terms...so you have back-up)

Great opportunity that you are giving someone....but I tried it once....and the phrase "No good deed goes unpunished" comes to mind. There were a few who were quite ungrateful for the offer....and caused a wee bit of stress every day. You shouldn't have to be tied to these people...especially since you are offering this for free....even if they are following your basic rules. You won't be able to write enough rules to keep a royal pain in the ass in line.

Sure....you can kick someone out whenever you like.....but they will scream foul play. Would hate to see them tarnish your reputation over that.....and they will try. With a clause like that....at least you covered yourself for being able to do so.
