We have bought the former land of BRAVO BRAVO at GARMISCH where a good year ago the official Master Money Tree List of the origional money tree was.

We have made from this land a place to support newbies with a money tree, freebies, lucky chairs, avatar kits, ...

We also want to re-create a new Master Money Tree List in SL.

If you are interested to register your money tree at BRAVO BRAVO, that is still frequently visited by a lot of newbies, you can promote your money tree for only 50L$ per week.

We will use 100% of this money to cover our tier costs and to promote this Master Money Tree List.

We hope to cu soon at Bravo Bravo !

As a newbie myself I can tell you how much I appreciate the money trees that don't require payment info. I don't really know if I'll stick around (I think I will but who knows) and I can't really justify spending real money on this at this time. I know it doesn't cost much real money but with the economy here heading the way it is I'd rather wait and see if I can find my particular place in this community before I spend money on it.

I'm probably the exception but I do stop and take a look around every place that I go with a money tree. I feel it's the least I can do as my way of saying thanks to people who are trying to help me out.

Yep, I always smile when I get those. One fella even sent me a copy of his first sculpted prim, which he was able to make due to being able to upload his sculpt texture with the L$10 he got at my tree. That was cool.

Are you saying that the old money tree list at Bravo Bravo is no longer working?

Al Bravo and Sapphire Bombay are both retired according to their profiles. Sapphire made some good Gambling Machines, maybe that was the final knell for them, who knows?

LOL, I didn't even know what a money tree was until I'd already aged out.

But, I've gotten so many freebies and great "dollarbies" from merchants and other users that I guess I didn't really need the handout.

I used money trees in my days when i was just born. It did occur to me however that traffic didnt profit from it because the trees were ready to be picked. I never stayed longer then a few seconds.

So.....I made my own. It drops silver and gold coins from a tree in the middle of my place. The silver ones arent worth a thing but the gold ones pay Linden! A gold one drops down every 10 mins on average.... so people have to hang around:) If no one clicks it... it goes poof after 60 seconds.

Its fun to watch newbies click on them!

oooh cool idea, i like that, never thought about trying to make my own, hmmm thinks of how to modify a moneysploder lol

well sadie i hope you come and visit ours :) it's a new sim and my first money tree and the free newbie packs by the tree is a great idea too. I have a few shapes I made male and female with some other select items including a great AO I used for ages (AO makes ya walk sexy) and flexi hair styles that i havent put on the sim yet so I think thats where i will put them, or maybe a newbie treasure hunt, thatll add to the traffic and keep people there for a while. i like the idea of hiding the tree in amungst a few others that look like it too, great ideas from all of you.

PS. i never heard of money trees till i was 3 months old lol

I have 2 money trees, one NPIOF and one requires payment info. The one that requires info pays better and avatars can collect for 60 days instead of 30.

I give away a lot of L$ at my place. However, I started feeling really resentful when I noticed how many people never gave me anything back in return and just kept leeching off the system. I started requring things of people - if they want my money they have to earn it, by joining my group and/or having payment info on file. I now have fewer freeloaders and more sales.

There is a sense of entitlement/expecting something for nothing on SL that really inhibits its growth. Anytime someone says they don't want to spend "real money" on a "game" it is an insult to those of us who've invested thousands of dollars to create what they see around them. I'm trying to change that culture one newbie at a time. I have what I call the "Good Citizen Program" which is basically a notecard that explains how to put payment info on file so they can collect $ from some of my offers. In the card I link payment info to being a contributing citizen, and make it something that is important, and valued.

If everybody in SL spent just $5 USD per month it would give the economy a huge boost. Even in these tough times, most people can afford that. SL is far cheaper than seeing a movie in the theater or attending a sports event. But as long as we have those who will just give away money without teaching values, the culture will not fully change.

This is true of every economy - virtual or real-world. (And yes, I know SL is actually both!)

Nothing causes a crash or slowdown like fear. All that really needs happen for a recession is for a rumor to spread that one is coming, and people stop spending, then people stop selling, and people lose their jobs and back to people stop spending, round and round til something pulls it out of it.

As far as $5 USD (how many Lindens is that approx.?) some of us make up for quite a few freebie-loading SL'ers. LOL :)

How to Money Tree?
01-09-2009 21:52
Does anyone know where I can go to learn about how to put a money tree up? I used to love picking from them as a newbie, and now I'd like to put one up on the land I've purchased.

TIA
