Intermittently, the last 2 days, the forums AND the secondlife website do not come up, usually in the middle of browsing. I do believe I am connecting to something as my internet radio and secondlife game continue on with no issues.

Anybody else? Anybody have a simple solution on my end or is this a bigger issue? Maybe too much traffic to the site?

Thanks!!

I have noticed that every so often the forums act odd and fail to return a page. Yesterday it seemed to happen most often when clicking the 'mark forum read' button.

I've had intermittent problems with the website in general. I'm getting 503 errors periodically, and when some sections do load it takes longer. Oddly enough, I'm not having any problems with any other website. Wonder if they're having a router problem on their end?

Clear cache
Download the latest Firefox over the latest IE
Revert to onboard 2D graphics drivers
Get the latest drivers
Sit closer to the screen (draw distance)
Reboot
Defrag

This won't help, but it *will* keep you busy. ;)
The forums might be OK by the time you're finished, in which case the situation is resolved.

Forums have been badly borked for me for two days now.

Never put down to conspiracy that which can be explained by incompetence.

However incompetence at this level with a vanilla BB is such that conspiracy has got to be a runner :)

I just illicitly popped into SL from work in order to check something, and the 503 error came up on the viewer log in page as well.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Looking at my sales today, I can see that there are MUCH more problems in sl than only the websites. But no blog entry of course.... *sigh*

I've been getting all of these, and on one disturbing occasion, the site was blocked as innapropriate by my work's firewall. I thought the jig was up and I'd actually have to start working, but it was just a hiccup as near as I can tell.

This morning it's been abominably slow, but no error messages.

Actually, they wrote the blog entry, hit submit, and left. But of course it wasn't working so the blog entry didn't post . . .. or the monkeys at the keyboard keys and they have nothing to type on . . .or . . . .

Oh, that "inappropriate" thing was hitting me a lot yesterday. SL is inappropriate, but nude pictures on Flickr aren't. Wait, did I say that outloud?

I've found all the SL web stuff to be abominably slow this morning, with about one error or failed page for every page that does (eventually) load. After I made sure I wasn't having an internet problem on my end, my next assumption was that the griefers had moved to the 2d web, like maybe a ddos attack on SL or something like that.

It's just been terribly slow and frustrating today on the main site and the forum.

Yes, been having problems since yesterday on the website. When I logged onto the website this morning, it had the message from 9/26 about the grid being down, but I had just been on SL. Last night, I logged into SL as my main, logged off to log in as my alt, and got the grid down message from 9/26 on SL's main log in page. Logged in anyway because I knew darn well it wasn't down for maintenance as I had just 2 seconds earlier logged off. When I logged my alt off, logged my main in once again, everything was fine on the SL main log in page. Why am I periodically getting messages on the website and SL log in screen that the grid is down "while they bang on it" from 9/26? Very weird.

here's the blog entry:

Web Site and Splash Screen Slowdowns
Friday, September 28th, 2007 at 8:37 AM PDT by: Teeple Linden

[8:36 a.m. PDT]

A number of residents are experiencing slowdowns or 503 errors (”Service Unavailable”) when attempting to surf to secondlife.com. Similar slowdowns and errors are appearing on the HTML panel which comprises the upper portion of the Second Life login screen. Our engineers are working to diagnose and resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

The login process itself is not currently impacted by the slowdown.

We’ll keep you posted as we work this issue out.

Ya just gotta love the corporate muppet-speak

"A number of residents are ...."
A number.... like 2, maybe 3, or maybe everyone?

:)
