From: Bella Posaner I should just copy and paste my response to every plonker that thinks their $9.95 a month is worth more than what I spend in SL.
I pay rent around $8k a month, I buy clothing, houses, AO's, tools etc etc.
I do not have an alt.
I don't own mainland, I never will, I don't like it........so what do I need an account for?
You don't deserve access anymore than I do. how much do you pay directly to LL?\ just wondering, as you say you rent (which means paid to a resident) and you buy stuff,(again, directly to a resident) do you buy your lindens from the lindex? I am premium, however I do not feel I deserve access over another real person, my beef is the bots, I feel that I (and you and any other real person) should rightfully get access before a bot does.... (and according to a post by Zee Linden, they probably can distinguish between bots and real people) From: Zee Linden
As I've said in the forums before, bots do impact these numbers. But we have seen evidence in the data that bot usage has not grown as a percentage of total use over time. making trending relevant.
If they have seen evidence in the data that bot usage has not grown as a percentage of total use over time, then it should be reasonable to believe they have a way to determine who is a bot and who is human, otherwise how could they make this statement as a true statement?

So how old are you people again? Look, privileges for logging in if you have a payed account or not, never works. It scares people away.
A premium membership doesn't give you anything but the possibility to buy mainland. And this costs you 9.95 per month, to have that chance.
I'm still a "free" user, but I own land, and I pay a lot to Linden Labs. But I also get thrown off if it's too busy. We already discussed this matter. OP is just another ego trip that thinks he/she owns Secondlife, just because he pays a silly amount to them regularly.
Quit the ego mode, it hurts you and those who still remain around you.

Here we go again.....

I've been in SL for nearly four years now. I started out as a basic account...became a premium member....then went back to basic. I don't own land, but I pay monthly rent (tier if you will). In order to pay my rent and provide a bit of spending money to myself and my family I probably spend more buying $L than a lot of premium members spend for their membership and tier. Would it be fair to restrict my logins? Why don't we suggest restricting logins by avatar age? Or by how much your SL business makes? Don't even think that someone having a basic account makes them a freeloader. How do you think the landlords of SL stay in business? From basic accounts who spend real money to $L.

Free accounts could be made to pick whether they receive zeros or ones from Linden Lab. This would could their resource consumption in half, less even if you do a good job of compressing the data.

That was stupid :/ tho it would mean they only ever need to receive a single data block when compressed then no more data ever... 1*inf or 0*inf

From: Key MacMoragh The truth is that LL scans these forums and blocks the people who complain. The truth is that LL handles their software so badly portions of the database actually overload to the point that it has to be shut down to be allowed to cool. This is because there's no prioritizing of resources. 95% of the servers with 0 people in the sims are doing nothing which leaves 5% of the database working overtime. They need to start to shunting the resources from those empty sims to accomodate logins, assets, etc. It's nothing more than poor management.

"We have seen evidence..." is hardly a strong conveyance. It means they can make an intelligent guess with the data they have in front of them. LL sitting on witness stand, this is when the cross examining attorney closes in for the kill...

And so when I log I may find the resources of the sim where I own land being used for something else which may have a negative effect there? Not a good idea in my opinion.

You do realise that each sim is an independant system? LL already did offload some of the asset processing by having each sim handle a local cache of assets to limit calls to the central asset server. Problems occur that there is only so much computers you can add into a database cluster before it gets scaling problems (problems that where invisible when the system was designed) It's like having a house and wanting to add a garage, and as you build the garage you realise the concrete slab on wich the house rest cracked under the pressure of the new build and you now have to scrape the house and the garage , pour a new reinforced slab and rebuild over it, but the new reinforced slab weight a lot more than the previous, wich require you to add additional structures to the foundations to support the new slab, wich also require you now to derivate a segment of your sewers linkage that prevent placing one of the new foundation structures.....
