Cut That Barbedy-Wire! Part Two

This is in reply to some statements about banlines and is intended for mature aduiences only.

To those of you with banlines:
Tell me something - what do these people actually DO when they come on to your property?? Do they chew up the lawn? Throw eggs at your windows? Invade your home and trash your furniture? Kill your dog? Beat you up?

They don't do anything - Nothing. They are cartoons. We are all cartoons. It's cartoon continents. They can't actually take anything from you coz sl is designed that way. They can wander on and try on a few ratzy clothes and wander off. They can play "I Spy" with a cam that shudders and shakes and makes your computer pear-shaped. So they see you scre*ing you neighbour's wife - so what? She is a cartoon also.

We dont need banlines. We need space. We need less rules in a fairer world. We dont need ARs and threats and cajolment. Drop the banlines, cartoon-people, avitars all! Drop the lines and open up the land again and skies.

Whadya say?

The only "property" I have is a bookstore, and I have thus far gallantly resisted the temptation to put up ban lines around IT. Feel free to wander in, try on ratzy clothes, or even screw your neighbour's wife (although I think you can find more comfortable accommodations for THAT than my wooden counter offers).

I have moved to my winter place and so have gone west and then north. So its late at night - NOT early in morning. Where I am its heading for Fall. I love the snow. No banlines up here, either. Just my electric gate.

They can get in your way while you're trying to work, and otherwise annoy you.

While I dislike banlines and security orbs, they do have some valid uses for people.

so... why the electric "banline"?

Coz its a real house. Real villains arent cartoons.

Jig, while I agree with much of what you say, I don't think this deserves yet another thread. Give it a rest.

It was really in answer to the rabid attitudes that so often appear when people "defend" their "territory" - hunkering down in imaginary bunkers in solitude or in a timewarp of pretence. I just like formulating an idea and provoking comment. I do it in real: I do it here. I try hard to be a little infuriating mixed with some commonsense. I dont blog - I just ask a question. People hate it. Some people like it.

I love it, Jig. You just don't cause enough controversy.

Ban lines really don't p1ss me off that much, ejector orbs are slightly more annoying, but I would never tell anyone this, because then they'd get their egos rubbed enormously knowing that their little ploy to p1ss people off had worked.

What does p1ss me off a whole lot more is being able to hear the RL neighbour's rabid dark barking its head off and not being able to f4cking mute it !!!!!

Just click that little X in the top right hand corner or go to "new posts" and read something else.

Go to your land options and enable the "restrict spacialised sounds"

I love bringing peace to the world.

When I am in my house minding my own business and strangers drop in and start using my things I get annoyed. I have had items play up because they tend to get on and off the balls all the time.
When I am having time with my man and someone drops in on the bed and says they will wait their turn I get annoyed.
As was said before MY LAND I pay the fee I will put up ban lines till such times as ppl in SL learn respect.
You pay the fees on my land and i will remove them

That can be annoying - but just eject them.

That's a great ideal, but WW3 will break out if the banline threads proliferate too much.



They have that in RL now? Cool, I want it at my place.

Lets not get personal. It was just advice... no one forces you to read the threads, and if people repeat themselves so what? Its not a hanging offence. Lighten up, take a chill pill, go get some all bran, whatever will help you.

Annoying is once or twice several times is a pain in the **** When I am with my guy who is not in SL very much at all at present due to RL i dont want or need interruptions.
I did ask one drop in why my place and he said he gets the big map up and looks for dots then TPs in on them.I explained he should use search only to be told no this is more fun. Pity his attitude was not a one off

I guess my challenge was a like a match to an arsonist in a haybarn. When I went on to sl, my land had over 500 prims ofother people's objects on it (ask my partner if you dont believe me)and had been so sorely griefed my nearest neighbour complained. I have had to ban the griefer who must have read my thread.
