The name of a business is marketing tool. Pick a name that will be meaningful and attractive to people who would like your product line.

I wanted a name that would mean something unique to Second Life residents. We fly and those of us who spend time in Second Life have a bond of experiences that are special to this environment. Hence, Flying Tribe.

Mine was chosen because I stay up late and Europeans or Brits would log in during their morning and say, "Jade, you still up?! You're such a night owl!"

Which continues to be true to this day.

Ll-animations obviously comes form my avatar name - not very imaginative. The av name dates back to some old D&D role play. I just thought if there is a "Franimations" and "Abbranimations" etc, etc, it was the done thing in SL!

I googled the name to check references though. Didn't really think too seriously at the time, but now I've had to think about Trade Marks and all that.

How did you choose your business name?
With my veggie last name being fairly uncommon (I must have been very drunk when I picked it), I figured it might be a good way to link me more directly to the store, and be easy to remember. I also wanted to express that my furniture was unusual, eye-opening stuff, so I went with the pun. My nudist colony/amusement park is named "BigFeet Bay" because, as they say, big feet, big fun. And if we ever get casinos back, I hope someone goes the honest route and creates a place called "SLim Chance."

I chose my SL business name, AnnaMayaHouse, mostly for convenience and sentimental reasons. I've played The Sims 2 for years, made some machinima with it and I called my movie 'company' AnnaMayaHouse in the credits. Anna and Maya were the names of two Sims characters I once played. So for me it was actually the other way around, I had that name and decided to make my SL first name similar as well, Anya.

I think choosing an unusual name (instead of, for example, Friday Night Designs -fictional) does help. When I google my store name now, there's me all over the internet (Flickr, YouTube, SLX, Onrez, my blog etc.) with really no things unrelated. It's amusing though that Google always tries to suggest 'animal house' instead.

No really, thanks, but I didn't mean 'animal house' :o

When I was selling objects I used "Deviant Enterprises" with the slogon:

"Great products from a deviant mind"

42nd Life.

42, answer of life, the universe, and everything.
Second (2nd) Life.
Put them together.

Thinking about changing the name actually, but I've had this name since 2006ish.

But wouldn't putting them together give you 42 + 2 = 44? :D

Weston, I'm pretty good at brainstorming and free association...what are you selling? Maybe I can come up with some ideas for you. I won't even charge you. Much, anyway.
