Piercings

I was just getting my slap and stuff on in real and pondering as I do when I wondered how many of you are pierced in real? And also display piercings in SL?

In real I have them everywhere. I like them but am careful now to overdo it. I dont want to frighten the boyz, I want them to "lust from a distance". I take them out and put them back. So today, a nice lip stud that is "mokame gane" workmanship and a pair of late-Regency foil-backed sapphires surrounded by tiny diamonds that I wear to honour a dear friend who is very very ill and who "handed them down" to me.

By contrast, in sl, I wear one lonely nose ring coz whenever I add to it it drops off and I get very confused and belligerent.

What jewellery (especially piercings) do you favour today in real and what are you wearing today in sl when you got out on the town or build your sims and stuff?

I only have my ears pierced. I am too damn old for anything more.

The only piercing I have is the IV infusion port buried in my chest. But it is usually covered in skin, unless they are sticking a needle in it. But it did leave a cool scar. I can tell people it is where I was wounded in close combat with a tribe of Amazons.

I sometimes have my ears pierced. I don't wear earrings often enough, and I keep forgetting to put studs in, so they keep closing . . .

In RL I have one ear pierced once and the other pierced three times (two I did myself), but rarely wear earrings. I have had my nose pierced on both sides at different times but those holes closed up.

My av usually just wears one pair of earrings.

None at all, in RL or in SL. I don't even have my ears pierced.

I also personally don't care for piercings on those I am close with. Pierced ears are something of a moot point for me, for males or females, as long as it's only a single piercing per ear. But I am older than most Players in RL, and in my generation and social strata, while pierced ears (single piercing) were acceptable for women, anything beyond that was considered unacceptable in "polite social circles".

I have friends in both RL and SL who have a number of types of piercings, and I see that as their choice. But I don't find it attractive, personally.

I can remember back in high school, guys who got their ears pierced soon got their ass kicked.

I have each of my ears pierced once and a belly pierce. That's it for me

I got me an eyebrow piercing in SL, and after a while I got fed up going "wtf where is it??" when I looked in the mirror in RL, so I went and got me one there too..

lol well I *had* been thinking of getting one prior to SL too... Just never got around to it.

Well, I guess that IS one of the things we use SL for, in theory anyway. Trying stuff out in simulation before taking the leap in RL . . .

No piercings, actually. It's all got to do with personality and trendiness (or lack thereof).

Were I to get any bits of metal in me, people would not see it as cool.

Rather, they would automatically assume that I had a terrible accident while attempting to learn fly fishing.

I have 6 piercings in my real life and in my fake life I don't really have any. Sometimes I wear a stud in my nose but it seems to come off when I wear other attachments.

That's cool. And so "in" with when I was very small. Maybe that's why I did many piercings - I saw people all around me with them. My first piercings were when I was a baby and my ears were pierced before I was one year old. I had teeny-tiny gold studs from India. Then I added to my ear piercings over the years in the entire area. Eyebrow - ofcourse - and nose. Lip piercing. And tongue. Belly. and other places. It's fun and harms no one (except me). My favourites are just beneath my lip and my ear lobes. I had the most pain with an ear piercing about midway up the ear coz it went into cartilege. I also had one infection from using Detol to keep the intial piercing in one place clean and no one told me you had to dilute Detol. I was really uncomfortable.

Each piece of jewellery mean so much to me. It all has a story and a soul. The earrings I wear today (mentioned above) have so much personality and an aura around them.

I have pierced ears in RL. Even if I had an interest in other piercings, I am a total pain wimp and therefore do not want anyone sticking needles in me unless medically necessary -- and that includes tattoos even though I would like a teeny tiny rose on my breast just inside the bra cup area.

In real I have 6 piercings - 3 in each ear. I'm very fond of earings and have a large collection.

In SL, I rarely bother with piercings, but I ususally wear a necklace.

I guess you're not a candidate for acupuncture then, Lil?

It was recently suggested that I try acupunture for a medical condition -- I am still trying to work up the nerve for it.

I've had acupuncture and it didn't hurt at all (didn't work either, LOL). I have a tattoo and that hurt. It felt like being burned with a cigarette for half an hour. It's over a bony bit of me, which is supposed to hurt more.

Only chunks of metal in my body are in my teeth.

I don't even want to think about all the metal in the back of my mouth.

No piercings in RL or SL.

But I do have a penis tattoo in SL.

I don't have the balls to do that in RL.
