Are fires in CA anywhere near Lindens ?

The Santa Clarita fire is about 80% contained. IT missed me by about 5 miles.

My brother lives in Poway [northern San Diego County] and had to evacuate, but snuck back in to check and their home is ok, aside from smoke damage. My sister lives in El Cajon and it appears they are in no danger, the main body of the closest fire is to their south.

Many of the fires were arson. those sickos should be airlifted into the middle of the next one with a garden hose. have fun, guys!!

there are many good reasons NOT to evacuate. Women and children should go, but a man or two left behind can do a lot of good. No, you're not going to fight an 80 foot high wall of flames with a garden hose. What you can do is keep things wet, really wet and hose down burning embers immediately. If you DO leave, you will NOT be let back until the cops decide it is CONVENIENT for them to let you back in.

Also, a pissed off surbanite with a 12 gauge shotgun or a hunting rifle is an EXCELLENT deterrent to looters.

Several homes WERE saved by one or two neighbors hosing things off with garden hoses and putting out small ember started fires.

But anyways... I agree, a few good men can save alot, and it's a good idea in most emergency situations to not completely evac (There ARE limits to that of course.. tornados... tidal waves... etc.)

Was in Santa Clarita today. Freeway was sailing and the fire is almost gone. Phew. Heard from Zaphod this morning. Big Bear Valley made it through the night ok. Hope that has continued today.
