OK.. so I'm running a contest soon ( /116/38/219947/1.html) Yes..shameless plug.. anyway back to the question. If I want to disable use of tools such as PrimDocker and various building HUDs... can I do that by setting the land where the contest is taking place to no scripts?

I don't think so. A script that calls llTakeControls will still work on no-script land..

I don't think you can do it..
I never use these tools but assume that they need the prims being worked on to have scripts in them? Maybe you could turn on beacons for scripted objects?

I played with two of these building assistant things briefly, so my help isn't going to be too reliable. But here goes... Disabling scripts *should* go a long way to preventing them. In order to work right, there must be a script in each and every prim that is being worked on. Disable scripts will stop new rezzed prims from executing their contained scripts, which *probably* will render the building assistant software unusable. In addition, the two that I played with, left every single prim with the 'Creator' name set to the person who made the scripts, not the person using the scripts to make the object. The reason being, the hud rezzed the raw prims with the scripts already in them, you didn't use the edit tool to rez your own raw prims. I don't know if they all act like this, I strongly doubt they all do, but this was one thing I noticed about the ones I played with. If you disable scripts, and you turn on the scripted items beacon, that should probably cover most of the possibilities, I think, maybe. YMMV. Disclaimer disclaimer. Grain of salt. -Atashi

The HUDs that I am familiar with, Skidz and PrimDocker, both contain a warning that the prims will not list you as the creator unless you follow the instructions they give. This normally is creating your own prims, placing the proper script in them and replacing the ones in the HUD inventory. All prims created by the HUD after that will list you as the creator. You can also just create the prim the normal way and manually add the script to be listed as the creator a huge PITA). Sorry for being off topic here, but wanted to point out that you can be listed as the creator when using builder's HUDs. I personally don't see the problem with using the HUDs. I have worked in the construction industry, and every builder/contractor I have ever met will use all the tools at his disposal to ensure the best possible product. But it is your contest, and you can set the rules.

But it is your contest, and you can set the rules. The problem is that if someone else can't afford it, or chooses to do it their way, they are at an unfair advantage, and the contest is in you building skill with the in-world tools, not how well you use commercially available huds. You should be able to align prims in about 5 seconds with the in-world tools pretty easily.
