I have an "anti-club" - you're more than welcome to go there! I have live music on occasion too.

I Will. I especially like to patronize places that belong to people from the forums here. I'd rather hang out and support my friends than complete strangers. Send me a LM?

I know the NCI New Residents Mall area is used frequently. I don't have any number on what percentage go on to start "real" virtual businesses. The person to talk to is Nardok Corrimal. She's in charge of NCI New Residents Mall.

> Do they have more demand than they can satisfy?

We don't at NCI. Last time I looked the Shelter had empty spaces, too. Travis will know for sure.
Thanks, Carl! I'll talk to Nardok and Travis. It may be that we in the forums should simply be pointing new creators to those programs.

However, there seems to be a fair amount of enthusiasm.

Also, a forum-sponsored space either adjacent to or TP'd to from the Hangout would have a smaller, but better monied and more able to be helpful set of customers. I remember wondering who bought at NCI's new resident's mall, since most folks walking through it can barely cope with the flood of freebies, let alone buy things.

It could be that such a space would turn into something similar to what FD mentioned - a show-and-tell that you can buy from, where the most valuable thing the new creators get is advice from mature consumers and business owners.

Man FD -- you're emanating some bad mojo.

I am sorry about that.
I was under the impression we didn't want BIAB and good products.
Not every newbie or even Oldbie's content is good.
I create because I love creating. Not everyone may like it but
I would be nice to find way to show what I created.
Yet truthfully personally I don't want to see the Forum members
or Cartel Forum members investing more then they have too unless
they really want too.
I am all for supporting and educating others. I didn't mean to be
a downer.

Several things. First, if it's decided anything Cartel-related needs space, I can tidy up next door in Dallows, no problem. Second, I'm unclear if NCI and The Shelter spaces are age-limited; if so, I think there's an unfilled need there: new creators aren't necessarily new residents.

But third, while space is easily enough supplied, it may be that an event would be more valuable. The Lummerland Sunday Show-and-Tell is a fantastic experience for presenters, and the audience is growing steadily just because it's so darn much fun to watch. Perhaps the Cartel might try a weekly show-and-tell event on some other day of the week. It would require real ongoing coordination effort. Probably Barney and flo make it look easier than it is--and it doesn't look easy!

Maybe a combination would work: market stalls for each of N weekly presenters, just for a week till the next Show-and-Tell?

Why not just have show and tell night or gallery space, special display of creations and allow people who are interested to request them some where?
Like in Gallery Page in Forum?
And save the money and tier.

In my RL area we have swap meets or flea markets, where people pay a small fee to put up a table of their goods to sell. This could work in SL, too, if someone wants to host it.

Gee, I've got a patch of land...

But I'm also rather new to this.

Any old hands who'd like to help organize a swap meet for selling original content?

Any ideas on how to make one work, or what hazards to avoid?

Hi guys,

This business incubator thing sounds like something I would be interested in. I'm working on my building/texturing/scripting skills at the moment but at some point down the line I'm going to want to start setting up a shop - it would be really useful if there was a place where I learn what is involved and to get up to speed on the technical aspects of setting up and maintaining a storefront.

Where's this forum hangout place by the way - sounds like a good place to pester folk with noobish questions ;)

Search for Forum Cartel in groups, there's a landmark in the land tab of the group info.
It's in Allana, sort of towards the right-hand bottom corner on the map.
I'm sure someone will throw you a landmark before you have to go that route though :D

If you search for Forum Cartel in world in all it should show you the location.
I think the sim is called Alana or Allana or something like that my brain doesn't remember
the spelling.
