I agree. I certainly didn't mean to insinuate that "men are oppressors." And while I wouldn't necessarily say that some women are happy with gender inequality, there are women who are certainly content with their own individual niches in the world and would rather not see them threatened by change in the status quo. Or, in some cases, they are just lazy.

Gender inequality, in a place like the United States, is in large part a societal problem with that doesn't exist so much because some group consciously and actively tries to enforce it. It gets reinforced by behavioral patterns ingrained in society and culture that are just simply hard to break.

But if you can see how it operates, and just make an effort to not contribute, you are being helpful when it comes to diminishing gender inequality. If you decide you are going to make an effort to use gender neutral language, then you are doing something in your power to break a pattern of gender inequality. And that's excellent.

Why should I be interested in wasting my time listing out a sequence of your inadequacies? It would just annoy you further even if you managed to comprehend and acknowledge your own deficiencies. Once your argument moves from a fact like "The moon rises in the East" to an unsubstantiated emotional opinion like "So I think it is made of green cheese" your credibility is shot, and you have done that in your last few posts.

By which I'm suggesting that connotation is not reliable when clarity is important; base definitions are better.

Objective truth in some realms may be so complex that humans may currently lack the capacity to understand it. That does not mean that objective truth does not exist, nor does that state of affairs grant validity to the notion that something useful can be gained by substituting subjective opinion. When one does not actually know something, it is always better simply to say "I don't know" than to indulge in speculative fantasy and demand that others partake of it with one.

Humans are imperfectible. Apprehending truth from an abundance of demonstrable facts is difficult enough. Apprehending truth without being tethered to demonstrable facts is an endeavor that is much less likely to produce success. It can be a way of operating within the world that has its own rewards, but it simply is not a path to truth; it is only a path to subjective opinion and emotion. Knowing where one's feelings and ideas come from is important because one needs to understand one's motivations. However, acting as though one's feelings and ideas actually have presence and relevance outside oneself is frequently disastrous. To live and work in the world, one must be guided by what is actually known to be out there in the world and available to all.

Yes, "cloud cukooland" set me off. And "naive" is another one. Surely you are not unaware of the universally recognized negative connotations of those terms?
