Even though I don't explore much, all I do is just stand around nearly most of my SL in a few locations. Running at between 192, and (more recently) 64m draw distance.

I have been using a tool, DU Meter, to measure my bandwidth used in neat statistical reports. I consider myself as moderate in my usage.

My internet is via Virgin on a 8mb connection.

My Monthly Report is as follows; (in GB)

I have internet access via cable modem as part of my total TimeWarner-Roadrunner package (cable modem, digital/HDTV, no premium channels ... I've paid 110US per month for years without regard to bandwidth. I've heard that, in other parts of the world, like Australia and Europe, there is a cap of sorts. As I said, I'm humbled and thankful for what may be an oversight here in the US ... but if there's money to be made, I'm sure we'll be hit, too.

It's depressing to think that, in addition to server lag in SL, a bandwidth cap would slow things down even more!

Thanks for your insights!
It's not an oversight. TWC was experimenting with bandwidth caps, but cancelled the trials until they could "educate the public" better. I.e., they got slammed in the media so they retrenched.

But, caps or tiers are to be a fact of life in the not too distant future, and while occasional SL usage won't slam you, be prepared for issues if you're a very frequent user (SLaddict).
