ARG! My face!

Hey everyone. I have a question about avitar faces and things of that sort...

Well you see, my avatar is supposed to be a teenager... 'cause I don't wanna be a grown up. xD Well he looks cool and stuff but I have one small problem that messes it all up. There are these wrinkles on his face sort of around his mouth or maybe they're more around the nose... How do I get rid of those?

I formed him from the Night Club shape, so yeah. Can I just get a totally new shape and use that?

Also, there'se this weird hair glitch where when I try to change his hair, it changes, but the old hair can still be seen and I don't know how to get rid of it. Even if I change color, the old hair style (with its old color) can still be seen everywhere the new hair isn't. How can I fix that? Thanks.

You need a bald cap for the hair. The crinkling around the nose is a flaw in the avatar mesh, unfortunately. You can minimize it somewhat by tinkering with the appearance sliders, but it never goes away completely.

Oh. Where do I get a bald cap? I put the hair ontop of that then?

yes you can get a totally new shape, either buy fiddling with the sliders to make your own, or you can look around and find a freebie one, or purchase one.

as for the "wrinkles around the nose" SL doesn't handle the avatar mesh very well (not enough polygons or something, the more technical can explain)
anywho you can try smoothing that somewhat just with minor adjustments. just remember to make a backup copy (if the shape is copyable) before you make changes. Or choose save as when you are done making changes, so it doesn't affect the original.

as for the hair, if you are trying to put on prim hair, then you will need a bald base under it. If you need a bald base just give me a shout in world and I will drop one on you.

Uh... what sliders would I use to try and smooth them out? I tried playing with the mouth, nose and face, but couldn't really get them to go away. I'll try some more when I can go back on.

mouth, nose, cheekbones, mainly stuff on the lower face

The 'nightclub' male actually comes with prim hair. Try right clicking on the old hair you are seeing and detach it.

As for wrinkles try changing your skin. Also adjust your face sliders. Try viewing yourself under sunrise or sunset. Noon seems to bring out all the imperfections.

Just remember that even teen-agers DO have lines on their faces. It'd be really strange to see a perfectly smooth face. Too plastic-y for my taste.

If you open up the Edit/Preferences and go to the Graphics tab - you will find some sliders to define the level of graphics detail rendered on your screen.

You can set the Avatar Mesh slider to "high" - and that is as good as it gets.

This does assume that you have a graphics card that can handle the high level graphics details.

Conversely - if you are having performance problems, then setting the graphics details to low may help improve things for you.

true, but adjusting the mesh to a higher number will only help what the individual sees though. Everyone else will still see them as thier own client is set up as.

wearing a facelight will help with that wrinkled look dramatically. they are free if you are willing to search around.

blad caps typically come with the purchase of a wig. you can get those from freebie places too.

if you are worried about a few face wrinkles....wait until you meet "Ruth" for the first time....giggles

You have the standard Linden skin when you are born in SL. You can replace it with skin you buy. A lot of this skin is "No modify", so you can't change the tan, freckles or such color details. You just buy demos first and try them on.

BUT...you can't "Take off" your skin. You have to replace it with another. So you can open your inventory and type "worn" first. Then your clothes, skin and eyes will be listed. Rename your skin "Zeenith' skin" so you can put it back.

I did that mistake when i had spent 2 hours adjusting my Linden skin. It was actually better than some of the freebie skins. I got a box of free skins, put on one of the skins.....froze in terror and then realized I couldn't find my original skin again! And couldn't take off the ugly skin.....
