Hi everyone, i'm just curious if anyone might know of anyone who holds emoting classes. I have experiance with emoting and i am a dancer but i wanted too broaden my skills a little and was wondering if there were still classes being held. I've tried using search and events with no results.
I'd be greatful if anyone know's of anything.
Thanks Shikia xx

All you have to do is type /me followed by whatever you want to do. Example: /me waves and smiles. That will show up as: Maya Remblai waves and smiles. Despite SL not teaching you this, most people learn how to do it after seeing someone else do it, so I think you may be talking about something else other than emoting. In which case, you need to be more specific.

Hi Maya i know how too emote pretty well what i'm after is a more in depth class on describing actions, the enviroment etc. I took a class a long time ago that was on a simular scale but it was more for Gor, i'm looking for something a little normal lol.
I mean i can emote pretty good i just want too improve my skills.

Do you mean facial expressions? The free Yadni Emoter Hud is great because you can combine expressions and I haven't seen that on any other Emoter. You can create very specific facial expressions. It also shows the expressions in the HUD so you can see what you are choosing.
Good for machinima too. Find it at Yadni's Junkyard.
Just to further show my possible ignorance of your question, you can also combine gestures with timing with emotes in the gestures menu. If you double click on one of the gestures in the library, it opens a program so you can create a custom series of gestures with timing. You can also add emotes to this since all emoter huds use the SL built ins tho right now I can't remember where you can get the list..probably SL wiki.
Torley Linden has a tutorial on this; he has a YouTube channel. Hope this helps.

I think what the OP is looking for is not technical but rather creative help with her emoting skills. She wants a class that will help her come up with creative, evocative things to say.
I don't know of any such class, which doesn't mean they don't exist. Until you find one, though, my advice is - use your imagination, be as uninhibited as you can, and when you see someone else emoting something you like the sound of, don't be afraid to borrow it and adapt it for your own needs.

@ OP- contact Lindall Kidd - she has a 'sexy'class but may possibly be able to direct you to other content. Just guessing but at least she would understand preceisely what you are looking for. Other than that, I would suggest just sitting quietly and thinking about things you read. Keep in mind also, it depends on context and surrounds. Obviously courtly, flowery speech would work well in perhaps a Royalty sort of RP, but in a casual situation, day to day speech woudl be reuqired. Really no one can 'teach' you how to express what YOU feel, though a few adverbs or adjectives can always be added to onee's vocab . Good luck. /me sits and ponders how the OP will do on her quest.

Love, June No, it just looks like descriptive verbage as in a novel. You wd put in your /me and get, JUne Oh thinks long and hard about how to employ her new emoting skills! Remeber also, when you do it, to continuein third person until you hit return. Because it wd say: June Oh thinks long and hard about how to employ her new emoting skills! I sure wish I had somethingimmediate to say. As opposed to June Oh thinks long and hard about how to employ her new emoting skills! She wishes she had something immediate to say. There would be a non-flow if you switch to first person before you send the emote.

/me suggests Shikia should do what lots of people do in an attempt to impress, particularly those who are semi-literate, and copy passages from erotic/romantic/chicklit stories/poetry available widely on the net into a text document, change the principal's name to Shikia's own, and have it available so Shikia can copy and paste appropriate selected sentences into chat, revising the "target's" name as necessary. /me understands that Shikia could even get HUDs for the purpose, or so some of his escort/dancer friends have told him, so Shikia could carry on knitting while trolling for tips as she removes her faux policewoman's uniform, or giving the john his money's worth. Pep (/me believes that some people can be conned into believing it's extemporaneous improvisation too, especially if one throws in the occasional apparently unintentional trypo)

From: Nina Stepford you can also use "/me's" ie, nina stepford's I think you have to leave a space between the /me and the apostrophe or it goes wrong. Pep (Emotes infrequently)

Hi, did I hear someone call my name?
Yes, I teach a class in the basics of SL sex, which includes emoting.
I'm on sabbatical right now, but if you IM me in world, I'll be happy to practice emoting with you a bit. It's not too hard to get the hang of it.

I'd recommend what I tell others:
Read!
Don't matter what kind of story, just read the dialog and how the scenes are described.
Do not copy and paste edits, learn to as someone put it write purple.

wow thank you everyone for your responses I'll try too answer everything i can lol. Hi Dnali, thank you for the tip on the emoter hud and gestures but not really what i meant, i'm really rubbish at explaining myself at times. I'm more looking for descriptive ways of expressing myself. I thought a class might be good because people can throw ideas of off each other Hi Scott, i'll definently send you a IM in world, thank you very much for the offer Hi Madhu, thank you for clarifing, that is exactly what i meant. I really am terrible at explaining myself . I agree with looking up in books and i am a avid reader and i sometimes read the more erotic novels aswell from time too time and they help a little. Like i mentioned before i was sort of hoping for a class, so i can bounce ideas of people. Oh June if you'd like some help getting down the basics of emoting feel free too IM me inworld, i don't mind helping at all Hi Amarathin, i'll send a msg too Lindal Kidd but i don't think i'll be able too attend her classes, the times she holds them are too late in world for me and you mentioned about a business oppurtunity, this might actually be a good idea, if we could get together a group of people who know how too emote pretty well. bounce ideas of of each other etc. Might be a cool idea

Matilda Raine is starting cyber/emoting classes at SDI shortly. Not sure if it might be too over the top or not, but the sign (conveniently located in the orgy area lol) says its meant to help people break out of boring, non-descriptive interactions. Might be worth a try.. dunno.
