Although I'm still irritated at LL's cavalier treatment of polite, concerned ... dare we say passionate? -- residents on the blog, as folks point out it IS their world, their website. I just think they should state, up front, their policies with respect to various communication channels. If they only want happyspeak on their blog, then shut down comments altogether and point residents to a thread in the forums for every posting that might evoke discussion. That way, they can show a happy face to the world, and completely ignore statements in the forums that make them sad. No need to spend time policing the Blog. Instead of such a straightforward change, they've quietly altered editorial policy on the blog without telling anyone. Some oldbies may say no, censorship has always been their policy. *shrugs* I can only speak to the time I have been in SL, coming up on two years now. In that timeframe, commentary on the blog was fairly free-wheeling. p.s. Colette, .

But now , I think they are becoming more brand aware and image conscious, so anything that can potentially be seen on official spaces will be sanitized and corporatized. I think the Community aspect of SL will definitely be subjugated to the SL:The Product. And while protecting the Product is a logical business move. healthy criticism should be welcome, but we know how LL tends to overreact and make wholesale changes, so a total lockdown on anything that can be perceived a negative is par for the course.
