Hopefully this will be released later tonight (Tuesday) there have been a few changes to sculpted textures
Currently if you want to apply a texture to a sculpted object you need to rotate the texture to get it to match, this has been fixed but means that the sculted images have now been flipped.
So if you have a sculpted texture to fix this simply flip it across the horizontal axis, any old textures will appear inside out, ie you'll be able to see through the face your looking at to the back face, this can be seen by creating the default apple which hasnt had its texture updated yet.

Well, that was confusingly phrased. The release is out, here's the notes: From: someone Release Notes for Second Life 1.16.0(1) May 15, 2007 ===================================== New Features: * Add "Mute" button to block unwanted notecards, landmarks, and textures * Particle systems are added to the restriction list in a resident's mute list
Changes: * The orientation of the sculpt texture has changed. ** All previously created sculpt textures will now make "inside-out" sculpties. ** To fix this, flip the texture horizontally.
LSL Changes: * New function: llRegionSay() ** Allows object to communicate region-wide ** Does not allow communication on channel 0 ** This is intended to reduce simulator load by eliminating the need for relay objects
Bug fixes: * Fixed positioning of maximize button when minimizing both script and lsl window * Fixed positioning of LSL help window after minimizing/maximizing main script window * Text for several alert messages has been updated * Fixed issue where sculpted prims revert to spheres when zooming in/LOD change. * Fixed issue where sculpted prims loose texture map when texture picker is cancelled. * Fixed issue where not making a selection in the prim type changes sculpted prim to sphere until edit is closed * Fixed issue where scale edit handl
es would become lost inside a sculpted prim
Hee hee, the silly sculpted thing I attached to myself is now inside out, as stated above. I've been able to stay in the version that was just replace and get to try making a few sculpted prims using the Wings3D program. Fun. Trying on my sculpty hat.

I'm encouraged that you can stay in this version longer, Suezanne. Will try it tonight - although strangely, I see nothing in the release notes about crash fixes

I thought I woudl try the beta grid while the main grid is down. I got the software installed and it opened explaining the beta grid is temporary blah blah.
Anyway should I be trying to log in with my normal account name or make a new one for the beta? It refused to log me in with my normal details.

A few days ago, it was....
Crash. Crash. Crash. Crash. Crash.
Today it's...
Despite our best efforts... Despite our best efforts... Despite our best efforts... Despite our best efforts... Despite our best efforts...

Zephyrin - log in with your same details. There is a problem with the beta grid now. Keep trying Those of you who get in and were crashing in the old version, please post here and let us know if you're still crashing.

You can't log into the beta with a brand spanking new account as the Beta Grid is a snapshot of the Main grid minus a few weeks. I.E. no new-account data. As for explaining it's temporary, that has nothing to do with being able to log in.

In the same breath the grid monkeys are pounding hard to bring the grid "UP" for you so you can have the pleasure of crashing the beta client on your own. Stay TONED for a another randition of........."AS THE GRID MONKEY TURNS" A little humor in these stressful times hehehe

Stupid Newbie Question!!
05-16-2007 09:07
I keep hearing about the Beta Grid, but I'll be dipped if I can find a link or any instructions for accessing it. If such instructions are anywhere on secondlife.com, I'll die of old age trying to locate them. This seems to be a pervasive problem with Second Life support and reference materials. It seem as though the authors assume you already know the answers to the dumb questions, and so just skip right over them. All other references are written in total geek-speak. I even purchased the "official" guide book, and found that it's little more than a paperback version of the wiki. [vent mode off /] Okay, so how do I get to the Beta Grid?

still freezing when enabling voice
05-16-2007 12:06
I was almost happy when I was able to login to the beta grid, only to discover voice is disabled by default.
As soon as I enable Voice chat (not even clicking apply or ok) the viewer becomes more or less non-responsive. When I click something, the title bar changes to Not Responding, which goes away after a while. CPU is at 0. It seems to hang or wait for something, but I do not know what.
system specs:
P5B-VM (integreted audio device, SoundMAX HD Audio). 2 GIG, Intel Pentium Core 2 ATI Radeon X1950XT

Has the Sculpty script for Maya been updated to reflect this change or will I need to flip them myself afterwards using the current script? I noticed the problem they're fixing with a simple test I made (two spheres overlapping joined together with the intersecting part removed) so it's good they've fixed it, as I worried I might spend all my time trying to model something and then it will look wonky Still trying to get the hang of Maya, I've not found many good beginner tutorials to actually create something organic. I just want something like 'how to make a dolphin' that I can follow easily and apply to other things Oh and... From: someone * New function: llRegionSay() SUWEEEEEET!

So uh.. how about ficxing it so that we DON'T have to flip the textures? Because now they are backwards from the defaault output of blender I have to flip every texture in photoshop before uploading it. That should not be the default...

Um, where's the updated Linux viewer? I thought it was supposed to be posted for download yesterday morning. The only thing I've seen so far is mention that you could get the source code. But I'm not really in the mood for compiling the beast right now!

I tried this version last night and it seemed more stable than previously (only one crash as opposed to 7 successive)..however, once I enabled voice, the experience was choppy at best - not the voice quality (I wasn't talking), just moving around continually froze me for short periods of time and the camera was very jumpy. I didn't much care for it tbh but kudos on the lower crashing rate
