Howdy!

Spent a long time hanging around this forum trying to figure out how this stuff works - so, thanks to one and all for the information you so generously shared.

Here's what we came up with - using iShowU for screen capture, on an iMac - editing with iMovie08 - exporting with Quicktime Pro. Hope you like it :)

Best regards,

Excellent... loved the theme, composure, content creation and production.. did I leave anything out? The movie had a great sense of freedom about it, technically very good... did they have children?

Thank you Zammy -

Been trying to get Vampira to get her songs up on Cruxy - Will let you know when she does.

No custom work - just an SL shopping spree :)

Sorry for that I came across this outstanding vid so late. But I think it's well worth being published so I decided to post it in my blog. Hope you don't mind.

Really nice work... imovie has really progressed since I used it last! I hadn't realized you could Chromakey in it.

I'd like it if you IM'd me in SL... I'm looking to make connections with machinimas whose work impresses me... I've got future plans that may mean I need additional film makers with exactly the skills you've got.

Basically, I'd like to talk.

Thanks!

iMovie doesn't have chromakey. We did that with SL!

See you in world.

To use chroma keying you have to use an up market editing programme such as Sony Vegas etc etc. The vast majority of low end 'editing' programmes are basically sequencers with the ability to add transitions.

We have been using chroma keying in our VR Machinima for 2 years now with some great results. One of our latest multi layered Chroma Keyed movies can be seen streaming in our sister companies showroom EML-Entertainments in SL.

Or you can see a lower quality version here: /278/ca/245397/1.html

Our most ambiquious had 26 layers of media.

That's what I thought... but apparently there are plugins that will allow you to chromakey in imovie... or for those without a high end NLE, there are also plugins like the fabulous VKey which will let you do the process in QT.

I've been working in SL with a builder, whose has created a portable greenscreen studio skybox, that you can rez in any sandbox area and have your very own greenscreen studio... without having to be a landowner. I've been testing it for the last couple of weeks and it's fabulous.

I'm going to do a tutorial about Chromakey in SL... and I'll let people know when it's done.

(OOPs... sorry to hijack the thread, wasn't intentional, just flowed from the debate)

Excellent work! I'm curious about the resolution you're capturing at...or are you
clipping to achieve that aspect ratio?

Cheers!

Who me?

I capture normally at around 1600x1200 into raw uncompressed AVI format. If I need Portrait, I use the screen region function in HyperCam to alter the aspect ratio of the capture window. Either way, it is always uncompressed AVI.

WOW! That had to have taken you a lot of time!

Sorry, I had a lengthy post, but it had a question in it about what you used to capture, then I saw after that you said what you used, so I had to come back and delete it... I realized that I got totally off topic, so I'm in here deleting the whole message and will just open a new topic instead of mucking up your nice topic. You did a good job and don't need my question about what you used, when you answered and I didn't see it the first time, mucking it up.

Yes, it's almost 2am. :o
