We plan to show off as much of SL's machinima as possible to the outside world in the coming months via several resident-media outreach initiatives. If you've got a great clip you'd like to show off, post a linkable URL here in this thread. You can also upload your video to our YouTube group at: http://www.youtube.com/group/secondlifeor the Second Life channel at Machinima.com: http://www.machinima.com/films.php?submit=1Thanks!

What is the best format for YouTube upload, so that audio and video stays in alignment? QuickTime seems to get out or sync.

I have not seen problems with my uploads in WMV. If you are using MAC, you would need to transcode. I think you can do that with AVS editor at $40 (easy find in Google).

Virtual Fashion
01-21-2007 07:31
I have posted a video story intended to show the possibilites of using SL video to make promotional content. Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I14SU4R5vhkThis video promotes DrFran's dress-making class and Alinarae Vavoom's fashion enterprise. It incidentally (by product placement) promotes "Pirates of the Caribean." More generally, it promotes Seccond Life and the concept of using SL for outfacing work. By ourfacing, I mean work that goes out into the real world and (I hope) makes real moeny. Real world companies are now moving into SL islands. They will want promotion to draw traffic. Entrepreneurs will develop ways to meet that demand. I am interested in working with people who want to make promotional videos for that purpose. TM

You can't make a commercial in Second Life
02-26-2007 10:34
Dale Moses is publishing an online book. He asked for somebody to do a commercial for him, free. So I did one for him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM7IIRUZ-UcTM

Movies of Strangefates Performances
05-16-2007 11:00
Hi..only recently started putting together Machinima movies of performances by the ambient virtual rock band Strangefates, but it is proving to be fun. This is just one example of an event at 'Rydem's' Nightclub. Images were captured using fraps, and edited using a domestic ulead editor, then converted to mpg2 and uploaded onto youtube. Any advice on how to improve the clips is welcome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ot7b-xngQDYThe full set of videos are also accessible at http://www.strangefates.com/StrangefatesSLvideos.html

Promotional videos
05-20-2007 03:32
MadamG did contact me and we have started plans for a promotional video. I am interested in pushing this idea, so here is some background. My video portfolio can be found on the YouTube Thinkerer Studios Channel http://www.youtube.com/selbyevansExamples of promotional videos are: Virtual Fashion; Broadway Live Island; Alinarae, Inc.; and He Silll watches. I do not charge. This is demonstrational project. I have friends who sometimes work with me, and they may charge. If you know what you want to promote, I can write the scripts (audio and video), find a performing cast, get the vido and audio, edit to produce a finished video, and post on YouTube. I can also make a copy avaiable to you for download (in either .wmv or .mov). I will, however, want to understand what you want to promote, who your audience is, and why they should be interested in what you have. I will also talk with you about what you can supply, such as visual content (objects, sites, avs), and audio content (narrative, dialogue, other VO, music). I will want work with you on Skype and/or my TeamSpeak server. I am also looking for people to work with me in developing this project as a professional business, I don't intend to make money on ths, but I would like to spin off the work to people who do want to make money on it.
