Sabre,

Some of us do our bit! I see some beautifully landscaped properties. Sure, some of the new sims are a little bleak atm, but people will get there, now the plots are owned.

Drop by Kritter Kreek sometime, in the far corner of Immaculate... where I have used the majority of my prim allocation on trees and plants :)

Or IM Higbee Protagonist, because he's got a lovely,
terraformed national park with several types of trees.

I burn trees! I want SL to become a barren wasteland of nothing but dirt and hippos.

Come to Hank's Bar and Grill in Clara or come to the Lodge at the Tehama Forest. Tree planting and forest expansion is ongoing!

Sabre, IM me and I will give you the opportunity you seek -- a chance to make a difference in the world! Donate a modest amount of your land allotment to Riverkeepers, and help keep Clementina green!

Stop by and see the waterfall, riverwalk, and park, more than 6000 square meters of open space. Linger for a while in the sculpture garden, rest on a bench overlooking the dramatic fountain -- all this and more, a much needed balm for the soul amid the hustle and bustle.

Cheers,

Kelwyn

Trees are good.

However, they also cause a noticeable amount of lag for me. So I tend to run with trees off whenever I remember that I can see trees on my screen.

(at least, until I get around to throwing more memory at my computer and then shelling out for a new video card :) )

Maybe, if trees didnt count against my prim count, could not be selected, and were invisible

I think this is a perfect example of one of the flaws with the prim count based on the amount of land owned. Why "waste" prims on plants when you can have other stuff.

To me, I was more willing to "plant a tree" when I had a spare $10 LD. Now that I have a limited number of prims to use, I use them first and formost for things I "need".

The 'flaw' has always been there, even back when 'all you had to do' was pay L$10. Except with the old system, the problem was foisted onto someone else (unintintional prim hogging), and now the person planting the tree has to deal with the fact that it's taking up a prim.

Trees and water are an entirely different catagory than other uses for prims. They're part of the world that everyone uses and benefits from. Kind of an eco-thing, I guess, but this is supposed to be semi-demi-quasi-realistic-maybe sim, right?

So -- my personal feeling -- LL ought to be paying -us- to plant trees and build water courses on our property, a bit of L$ -- and we'll make things in their world attractive for their customers.

I've been in SL five days, but the tree & grass thing leaped out right at me.

Come on by Slate at some point too. There are plenty of Sims that have beautiful trees, plants, waterways etc. Just most of the sims surrounding them have a lack of trees and plants. There are sims out there that are "eco-friendly" it's just that we don't seem to attract many people.

Lindens Hear our Cry!

We need more Linden Trees! There is only a limited number of styles of the Linden supplied, single-prim, sway in the wind trees available. Give us more! :D

Has nobody been by Lusk lately? Our Luskwood project - well, we have lots of trees. And I do mean lots. And they aren't going anywhere, either, at least not on my watch. Ponds and grass too. Yeah, that's right. Grass. And bushes. Wow!

Get thee a Shrubbery

Great thread, and thanks for the helpful information. I've just acquired a good chunk of land, and I'm planning on keeping a large part of it as a natural garden. I'll definitely be stopping by the places mentioned in this thread to get trees and other natural formations (rocks, water, bushes). I'd like to someday design critters to live in the trees...where are the birds? I keep hearing birds, but I never see any in the trees. :P

I love the trees that sway in the wind. The level of detail in the leaves and small branches and the realism of the movement makes me feel like I'm actually in the woods. Now if there were only more of them around!

I've just made 36 new trees -- reds and oranges and yellows. Some snow covered too. They're in Sage on the border of Plum. You can't miss them because of the vibrant colors.

Thanks,

Some people might haven't gotten that far! And uhm.. what would the phrase.. 'hug a tree' be without one?

:D
