I've noticed that the moon is not 3D, is there a way to make it so? Just curious...

Draw distance is less than 385,000 km, so no.

Robyn, this question has a lot of beautiful, poetic overtones. AFAIK the moon is a flat texture--in addition to Bertha's very witty answer, even if you could fly up to it, there wouldn't be a "dark side". You wouldn't even find cheese on it.

I have seen some Residents do their own textures (with transparent alpha layers) up in the sky and designed to be pasted over the current moon. For example, a waxy giant anime one, or even a large crescent for that extra touch of moonphase.

But, who knows: maybe someday Magellan Linden's (remember him?) descendants will come up with a propulsion system that gets us all there. :)

Welcome to your first post on the SL Forums too!

OMG that's sooo cute. :)

(Well, at least we know it's not made of ribs, as Will Ferrell-as-Harry Caray would lead us to believe.)

Now now, just because it's a hockey mask doesn't mean it's Jason Voorhees.

Could you send me a full-perm copy of that texture, Missy?
Or open the texture, click on File, Save As... that way it will not be stretched :)
If anyone has another high rez picture of the Jason moon, my email is eggstasy@gmail.com
