Port/internet issues

My roommate and I both have SL accounts (mine works fine) and we both use the same wireless network. She is currently unable to log into SL (for a couple weeks now). It goes logging in....waiting for region handshake.... then stops saying:

"We're having trouble connecting. There may be a problem with your internet connection or the Second Life Servers. You can either check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes, click Help to connect to our support site, or click Teleport to attempt to teleport home"

Our internet is fine- I log into SL everyday with no problems (other than the occasional crash :P) She seems to have all the right ports running... We removed SL and re-downloaded it... Deleted the cache...

So I don't know what the problem is. I don't know how to fix it for her! She can log onto my computer as her avatar but I cannot log onto hers- I initially thought it was an avatar problem!

If anyone has ANY insight, it would be MUCH appreciated- she would like to log on again :P

Thanks for reading, comment if you have any insight whatsoever!

It sounds like a firewall problem on her computer. Does she have a software firewall of some sort running?

Well in her security she allows certain applications to have no firewalls- such as itunes, ichat etc. Secondlife is ON that list. The other items on the list are working fine. She is on the TCP port 443 which is compatible to SL so... I don't know what the issue could be...

I don't know how to access the UDP ports to change them if that is indeed the issue...

It's hard to contact Apple about the issue because the other items on her security list are working. I tried to allow all incoming traffic- tried to log in however still did not let me with the same message as above.

Is it perhaps we are two users in the same household? I have no ideas here how to fix this issue.

*frustrated*

There shouldn't be an issue with two users in the same household. People do that all the time. If Linden Lab was blocking her computer, the error message would be different.

Turn off the Apple firewall and see what happens. Does she have any other security or antivirus software?

I'm currently having a similar problem.

I can log in, but once I'm in I can't TP anywhere or even walk/fly across a sim without being logged out. Plus my groups are all gone. Occasionally this fixes itself for a short space of time, only to break after while. It seems to be fairly intermittent.

My alt appears to be ok, although he too got logged out after flying across a sim boundry, but logged back in with everything ok again.

I tried altering the firewall settings too, SL is in the allowed list and also turning it off (Allow all incoming connections) doesn't seem to make any difference.

I have submitted a ticket, so will report back if I get any fixes via that route, but for the time being if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Btw, my specs are 2.16Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, 2GB ram, ATI Radeon X1600, on 10.5.8 I use a wired ethernet connection to my router on this mac.

hello
she could try port 13000, in Sl préférences, and she can also try a different viewer or version, we had quite that bug with my neigboor.

with SL , there is no need to open the firewall on mac, at least on Tiger, but the router need to be configured.
What do you use as wireless router ? airport ?
I had some problems with a netgear router, while using wireless (and I didn't figure it out :( )

Another thing to try, is to make another Mac account on her computer, with admin privilege, then try to connect from it, just to see .
is she using little snitch, for instance ?
