Actually, it's available Friday, and it's been widely seeded to developers and other early adopters.

It hasn't been released in the UK yet, Mitch, but will be this Friday. I really want to upgrade, but, like you, I've been wondering how SL will run. I have just accessed Support and asked in Live Chat. This is the reply I got:
"For this I would advise you to keep an eye on our supported system requirements as I dont believe that has been tested as of yet." In view of that, I'm not upgrading yet. I seem to remember that there were problems when people upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. I wasn't affected as I didn't have Leopard until I got my new iMac last year, by which time the problems had been ironed out. Hope this helps. ![]() |

It's Intel only obviously. My main concern has been OpenCL's affect on SL performance... if I'm running an OpenCL app like photoshop, in the background, while running SL, what is Photoshop gonna do to my "unused GPU" ??? Sigh. I hate how Apple thinks my GPU is gonna be unused. Retards!

Snow Leopard and SL

I've been using it with CoolViewer on three different systems for the past few days. I've not run into any compatibility issues.

Can't wait to get some confirmation on SL performance under Snow Leopard. I won't be the first to upgrade, but I am looking forward to it based on the pre-hype.
Hey... I just realized this OS has an acronym of SL (Snow Leopard). That could get confusing. ![]() _____________________

I hate how Apple thinks my GPU is gonna be unused. Retards! You really don't think the OpenCL spec takes into account what the GPU is actually doing at the time? It's going to be no different than multiple cores balancing processing load. Obviously if a cpu core is already doing a lot of work, it's not going to get more loaded on it. If OpenCL doesn't handle processing on the GPU as intelligently, I'll be stunned. |

The SL client works fine in Snow Leopard.
The only real problem I've had from upgrading to Snow Leopard was getting Soundflower working correctly. Soundflower is used by several of the better Mac audio and video capture apps for capturing system audio. I just had to fight it a tiny bit and all was well: http://radarmasukami.com/2009/08/the-sound-of-flower-in-snow-leopard/ But as far as the SL client itself goes, no issues that I've seen. |

Antialiasing doesn't appear to be working for me in Snow Leopard.
And Kirsten viewer S17 and S18 wont open, it gives me the error message⦠"Kirsten S17 is unable to access a file that it needs." S16 opens fine as does all other clients I've tested. Anyone got any idea i can try to get Kirsten working again? |

MacBook 13 with nvidia 9400M and all is working except anti aliasing (FSAA). Can't turn it on, even with OpenGL profiler. Well, it says it is on, but it isn't. I suspect a driver screwup. I don't think I have looked close enough to notice if anisotropic filtering is working or not.
The Nvidia Snow Leopard drivers are OpenGL 2.1. In 10.5, they were OpenGL 2.0. So hopefully some progress there... if they can fix FSAA! I haven't tried Snow Leopard on the MacBook Pro with the 8600GT, but I suspect it will do the same as all Nvidia users are reporting - no FSAA. |

Upgraded both MBP 15" 2.4Ghz (Jan 2009) and Mac Pro 1st Edition both working well with SL on SL
Nice cast appears to work, although the developer says a new version is required and is coming soon. ![]() |

Someone in jira VWR-15313 said anti aliasing works if renderglow is turned off in the debug settings.

SL is so F***** at the moment it's hard to tell if snow leopard had made any difference.
I have a Vista machine as well and SL is just running like a Dog, nothing on the status or the blog of course but that's LL. Been around for two years now in SL, it was like this in the early days. Just goes to show, nothing changes with these Guy's Ship PS And LL wanted to attract big Business to the grid, laughable to think about that now !! |

I installed 10.6 server on a new iMac 9,1. 2.66Ghz, 4GB Nvidia 9400.
It seems to run about as fast as under 10.5.8. Maybe a bit faster. The night sky seems darker under 10.6. _____________________

I've now spoken to about 5-6 people who are running the SL client with Snow Leopard without a problem. Good news.
Bad news, for me, is that one of my critical apps (Digidesign's Pro Tools) is not yet Snow Leopard compatible, so I'm content to wait for them. Everything else I use regularly, from Adobe Creative Suite to Nicecast and so on, seems to be okay. _____________________
