The advanced graphics tab has been recently combined with the main graphics tab so it is all under one tab.
I'm not positive this is what Zorin was talking about, but this is what I found. Click on the hardware options button. You will find a slider for texture memory. Set that to half of your vram. It seems to have lessened my problem, but didn't solve it completely. Worth a try.

I want to buy a Mac Pro- which one?
04-23-2008 19:39
Have been a windows user for years, but very interested in the mac pro - am looking at the 2.4 GHz and 2.5 GHz Intel Core Duo ..... NVIDIA GeFore 8600 GT w/ either 256 MB of GDDR3 Memory and dual link DVI _ OR_ NVIDIA GeForce 8600M CT w/512 MB of GDDeR3 SDRAM and dual link DVI link DVI -
which one will be the one that will work SL the best? Should I in fact do this? In order to be on SL, what will I have to do? Any suggestions? I really count SL as a part of my first life, and don't want to lose it!

You say you're looking at a Mac Pro but what you seem to be describing is the MacBook Pro, one's a tower, the latter's a laptop. Currently I don't think anyone can really recommend the MacBook Pro for SL as it appears to have trouble still.

I have an iMac 20" with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro and performance of the current latest client is fine, so much better than my better specced PC laptop.
So I am sure this isnt the end of SL for Mac, just some people are having problems with some configurations, which while not good, leaves hope for some fixes and updates.
LL should take note, more and more people are moving to the Mac platform, it's important not to forget it.

I have one of the older Mac Pro 2.66Ghz 6Gb ram. Although I have in the past had problems with the mac clients the official release and the current RC work fine.
I often run both clients at once and have had no major issues doing so, unless SL as a whole is lagging.
The only problem I I find with this is that only the RC has the setting to allow multi clients as far as I can see, so if the older client bombs out, then its gone till I close the RC.
Frame rate, with 1 or 2 clients varies between 15 and 25 fps.

I have 1.19.1.4 (Cool SL Viewer) and have recently lost all media - Voice, Music, and Video. It started with the last client install last month, when my Voice button went gray. About a month later, I have 1.19.1.4 installed for about a week, and my Audio and Video buttons disappeared. Just disappeared. Won't come back, either.
I tried the suggested Midi utility check for sound output - it was defaulted at the suggested setting .
My Prefs are set and have not been touched, my volume settings are maxed, but the screen buttons are no longer present.
Any ideas would be most welcome.
Since December 2007, my SL features have gone away, one by one...
I can't teleport between sims (only intra-sim). If I try, SL quits (doesn't freeze, it goes about 1/3 of the way on the progress bar, then says 'you have been logged out of SL', allows me to 'Continue' or Quit'; Continue meaning NOT online, just some local capabilities) I can't Upload any Images. I'm told the server is having difficulties. Can't save a Snapshot to disk. I'm told the server is having difficulties. Can't Save a Notecard. I can create one, but if I Save, I'm told the server is having difficulties. Can't use Voice - its Activation button is grayed out Can't hear Music - Music button is gone Can't watch Video - Video button is gone Can't buy more than 1,000 Lindens at a time from the upper corner thing.
BUT - SL runs smoothly and in 'real time. Go figure.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, automatically and manually removed cache, set and reset Prefs, relogged hundreds of times. Black Triangle
05-26-2008 02:12
Very recently I've started seeing a large semi-transparent black triangle in the upper left corner of my SL screen. It happens wherever I go, some sessions just a few times, others it never stops. It seems to flash on, then disappear. Then that repeats. I can see some prim items 'thru' it.
