iMac teleporting issue

Hey, I recently bought a new iMac and have been using it since the end of November. Everything worked great on it and I could play SL with no problems. Then I got a new modem and since then I can't TP inworld. However, I can use all the other navigation tools, such as Map, etc. I can't TP from them, however. I've opened all the ports that SL says too, and I still have isses.

Now, if i use my PC to TP (same connection, same modem...just 7 feet away), everything works fine.

I've checked the settings on my modem, and don't see what is causing the issue. I talked to Apple for 2 hours, and they couldn't figure it out either.

Any help??

It works the same way in Windlight and normal SL....

What kind of modem are you talking about? I know someone that has Verizon DSL and she was having problems with her mac working wirelessly to it. The old pc worked fine. She called Verizon and they had her force the wireless channel on the access point. Apparently the Westell DSL/Firewall/Access Point is sorta crappy. The Macbook wouldn't work consistently unless it was set to a certain channel.

I just switched to my 2wire DSL modem for wireless, and I'm having the same problem TPing. Funny thing is, if I connect wirelessly to my Airport Express which is plugged into the same modem, TP's work fine.

Seems to be an issue with the 2wire wireless. For me, it's a no brainer, I'll go back to the Airport Express, but if anyone figures it out, please let me know. I'd love to be able to use either.

Yes, I am using the 2wire modem as well. However, I am not using a wireless connection for my iMac, it is wired. I do not have an airport base station, I don't think....so I can't try the airport option.

Also, would it matter if I use PPPoA instead of PPPoE???

I've only heard of problems with the wireless access points that Verizon provides. I've only heard problems with them working with Macs and the person I know doesn't play SL at all. She fixed hers by setting the access point to only use one channel. I think some access points automatically change channels. She forced hers to be channel 1, 6, or 11. I don't remember which.

But, if you are plugged into the DSL with a wire then it should be working fine.

I solved my problem!

In case there are any others out there who have the same problem as me, I will post what I did to fix my problem with TP.

First I went to: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2007/11/apple_plugs_44_security_holes_1.html

and made sure I had the latest updates. Then I went to:
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3068
and used a older version of SL.

When I did both of these, I was able to TP. However, I wanted to use the newest version of SL, so I bought Airport Extreme and I haven't had a problem since.

I hope this helps someone!
