I have an issue on my macbook pro, only 1.5 years old :
No matter what version of SL I get /reinstall (main version or release candidate and a couple non-linden lab viewers), it is horribly horribly slow. Textures don't load, I can barely move, everything is in slow motion, typing lags (I type and the words show up a few seconds later). It's awful!! All my settings are down completely. I'm out of options! Before my macbook pro (running leopard) worked great. Textures didn't stay gray, I could walk.
This is unacceptable! And completely useless to me now. What can I do? Someone told me it's a memory leak- what's that mean? how can I fix it without spending big bucks?
I use this computer for video editing and for playing SL.. but isn't a little over a year too soon for this thing to go? I dished out $2000 and am very unhappy! Should I complain to apple?
Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like you might be suffering from the same problem most of us Mac users suffer from. Last few versions of the SL viewer have been terrible for me with constant freezing all the time. Anyway someone in Release Candidate Viewer forum pointed out that you can run previous versions. Take a look at the post... /349/1d/304670/2.html#post2306549

hey! memory leak = software bug (slviewer) i use viewer v1.20.17 with "success" its the last more or less working viewer for me /my machine. i also use cool viewer v 1.19.05 - no windlight 2- 4 times faster you can set "texture memory" to 1/4 of your machines video ram (vRam) (edit/preferences/graphics - custom/hardware options) ie. vRam 128mb -> "texture memory" 32 mb "vbo" enabled/disabled - my machine runs better/faster with "vbo" enabled (imac c2d 2Ghz 1Gb Ram ati x1600/128Mb vRam /osx 10.4.11) "antialiasing" will eat up most fps so its better to deactivate "windowsize" the smaller your "sl window" the more fps you will get (amount of pixels drawn on screen) it also depends on the sim your on. some sims are horrible slow others not. sidenote jira pumpbug->

ariella, also try the kirsten viewer for mac http://hyang.catznip.com/Kirsten/KirstenViewerS16build90.dmg.zipmy advice is: back up a copy of your SL preference folder (it's in home/library/application support)l, erase it and then run the new viewer your experience of SL will change, dramatically
